Re: ALL-NEW Steampunk Discovery

You have a knack for character/creature design. You should do more of that!

Adorable! You did a lovely job on those fuzzy faces! And it's a nice concept, too. GMV.

re: atlantic chainsaw massacre

this shirt = best of the week. Instead of just having another generic 'sea shirt', it's actually clever. and it references my favorite horror movie.

now, can you recreate the scene with the giant meat hook?

Thanks for writing. I don't remember ever seeing a t-shirt offered with a subscription, but of the two I think it would most likely have been the WWF that would have offered them.

Lucky - thanks for contributing words when you appreciate something. By your low number of posts, I would assume you keep your silence when you don't care for something.

This is my brother's shirt and I have been edging around commenting one way or the other since this design doesn't appeal to me and I sure don't want to offend the person that is teaching me how to use Photoshop. In fact, on both of my submissions, he did all the computer work. I was just some kind of artistic (autistic?) director. So when somebody compliments his work I am glad to see it. The van he did made me very nostalgic, but I pick on it to show da love.

lwoodnj wrote:Ironically, you obviously have neither.

Weird how that works, huh?

elwood- The irony is you. You are obviously in the practice of using your multiple IDs to hide behind the internet to vote multiple times and to have vehicles to flame other users. You are the one lacking the character of common courtesy and the style to say anything substantive.

databit wrote:Go back to that... Go back to judging the shirts. Stop being so small.

Bro - You covered the essentials and this was well said. Now if we will both get smart we'll ignore this small mindedness and get back to the safe haven that is our geeky existence.

databit wrote:YAY! I did a triple post on myself!!!

First of all, I would like to that the Academy. I would like to thank all the small people who helped make this happen, and finally, I would like to thank my mom without whose support, I would not have been able to be here today.

fairnymph wrote:Ugh, why is this design getting SO MANY votes? It's looking like the frontrunner. The art is fine, but concept = MEH and colours are pastel.

Someone explain to me why this is so popular?

I like it because of the expression of the duck's face. It's like glee and fright at the same time. I also enjoy the contrasting style of the duck mixed with the style of the waves in the background.

And I'm VERY sad that it fell out of the fog.

Its hard to explain, but your 'everyman' comments (and the design itself) make me think of Cirque Du Soleil, and the way they weave their 'off-reality' storylines.
And its probably really as much about looking neat for them, too

This is a definite buy for me. Love it.

Look at the ring-doves and you'll see
See them stretching their clipped wings out toward the sun

Toes....you have gotten a number of accolades for this design and I think they are deserved. I have thus far declined to comment because thoughts occur to me and I didn't want to be a negative sounding voice. But having a bit of praise heaped on you gives me a little space to share. And one other qualifier/disqualifier... I CANNOT point to my own body of work as a superior talent. I'm a noob. Clear?

The lander occurs to me as being detailed and well thought out. The ship doesn't seem to possess this same level of attention. They seem like two different compositions brought together. Notice, I don't critique the ship as being poorly done, it just didn't get the same attention as the lander. I also failed to realize the ship being in motion for a while. You might have enhanced this effect so that the viewer realizes this quickly. I say this because this piece obviously has a story and if you miss the motion of the ship the story falls apart.

Our flag bearing friend doesn't even seem to be aware of the incoming menace. Again, this seems to take aware from the story. I did realize that if he were turned facing the ship you wouldn't have the opportunity to showcase his profile, which, btw, was well done. But you might have put him into a jumping run towards the lander which would have given you profile, action, and connection to the story.

I talk too much. I said you deserved the praise because conceptually this thing rocks! I just had to get my geek on and share my thoughts. Its not like I expect you to rework and resub. It has enough votes that my changes would never be worth the difference. But suppose you don't get a sale and you want to tweak it...ah, you get my point. I'd just like to see that ship get the same life you gave to the lander.

All that being said and probably scoffed at, I officially declare.....GMV

I am in the pleasurable moment of returning to find this comp back in the fog. YAY!

Your existential moment there got my philosopher geekyness going and then you let me down with the neat comment. There's no doubt it's neat but I really wanted to put you up on the pillar of deep thinkers. Instead I have to settle for calling you a badass artist.

and hey...you can "see" I'm obviously "fishing" for comments on my thinker piece ....
