I did say I would make edits in the final version.

All I know is that if the picture were INTENDED to be a girl with a worm on her head, everyone would be commenting, "You suck! The girl's proportions are all wrong. It just looks like an elephant."

well...it really looks a LOT like Dora the Explorer. I can't criticize you for arguing that you meant for it to look like a cartoony elephant, but it looks like Dora, Dora, Dora.

Re: I wish...

Great idea and really well done. I'm not sure how it would print with the purples and painted light- a lot of time the glow on these types of color combos looks great when backlit on a computer screen, but loses its effect when frontlit on a shirt. If it works, though, the payoff will be great with this design.

jasneko wrote:So that's the way this works... I'm new to shirt.woot, only been looking since the past few derbies (that I've also been entering), but I've been definitely noticing certain names are always in the fog/lead immediately ... not that they weren't/aren't good designs, but it just seemed kind of like clockwork. Aw. I was really enthusiastic when I joined, but my enthusiasm is dwindling a bit as I gather more about the inner workings...

Just give it a while. If in the next month or two, you don't break the top 10, then I'd start getting discouraged... One good way to get your design out there is in the thread about the derby. A lot of designers offer help there and it exposes your entry before the voting starts.

It's subtle, elegant, and yet still endearing. It's not in your face, and I love that about it. Being on a dark shirt doesn't hurt either...can't stand white shirts, ew.

Well, thank you! I appreciate it.

@ Josephus - I am not very well versed in recent cartoons. I got a box of fruit snacks that I thought was Dora, but apparently it was Diego who is her brother or something????

@ rglee - Wow, thanks a lot! I'm hoping it will come out well in print form too. My Birth of the Moon picture was similar in contrast and "glowiness" and I was very scared that it was going to look dumb, but I think that came out very well. Here's hoping this one will too, if it makes it.

Re: Fight Fire

Wow you've really fallen to 6th? Looks like you just need a few "gimme" votes. You've got the talent. Once you get a fan base you'll be on a level playing field. Not that the regulars get votes just for their name alone but I think it can change on-the-fence opinions into votes. When you read "Well, here's a list of things I don't like about it but GMV anyway, *insert first name*!" you can't help but notice. Nice artwork and great job though making it this far as a woot-nobody.

I agree, I love this shirt. I don't think it is similar at all. Its at least 40% different, which meets copyright laws.

I would by this shirt in a heartbeat. I don't even like "similar" design.

Great job on the shirt, loved the colors.

Thanks, I appreciate the suggestions. This is my first attempt at a person in shadow with highlights and really with color at all (my expertise is in portraiture with pencil/charcoal) and I'm, frankly, surprised it turned out as well as it did. I knew it needed another color for highlights but couldn't get it looking any better than it did without. I will certainly keep working on this concept.

Very Nice ......
I like the Composition and the expressions on the (poor stressed out) animals, who seem to have accepted their role. Especially the spaced out sad and "obedient" dog.
How does the mouse survive the cat ? he looks rather panic stricken, fortunately he's right behind the cat and not the other way around..

Why the paperclip guy..? He's kinda annoying. However, I might use the search dog. You know, if I really wanted to win, I would just use a picture of myself. It sold thousands of picture frames!
And what's this 'us' stuff? Why does Rob get drinks?

Thats the point...everyone hates the paperclip. And just so you know I never bought one of those frames so it must not have been a very good picture.
I thought rob was part of the bet but now that he's trying to help (or sabotage) us BOTH that probably won't work. Think about it...he didn't want to be your partner anymore and then wanted to be my partner and now he wants to help us both...SHAAADY...maybe we should be teaming up against him.

I'm not a fan of gory/angry shirts (thus wouldn't wear this design), but as far as feedback: still nicely drawn, and the whole thing has a vintage feel with the blood sunburst and coloring which is interesting. I especially like the teeth/fangs/mouth.

I don't personally like this t-shirt design much, but I'm laughing at all the drama queens hating on the artist, and the QQ that invariably pops up on all the designs by said artist(s).

Thanks for the entertainment.

Hmmm.. I see.. you're right and TENS OF THOUSANDS of people around the USA, Canada and Mexico were wrong? Face it, that picture was saaweeeet. Although, I have to admit that the autograph seekers from this were kind of a "Wal*Mart-ish" looking bunch.
Ok, what kinda guppy is Rob trying to pull? You're right. Awful shady. I'm in on the double team , mandylou, let's take down Rob, that little b!tch!

Diego is her cousin, I believe. He is some sort of child labor kid, who works as an animal rescuer, along with his sister, who is a bit older. Dora just explores with her pet monkey. Kind of reminds me of Jason Toon...

This is Dora:

She started airing on Nick in 2000, so I just assumed that you would have seen her when you were a kid...bwa haha! just kidding!

I hope you can see the resemblance (sans trunk/wormy thing).

Re: Precious Juggles II

I like your style of drawing for the animals, but the actual juggler seems off. Cute idea though. Reminds me of that scene from The Jerk. Also, I keep waiting for the cat to eat the mouse.

You do horses really well, I would love to see a design with just the horse. The tiger is good, but somehow seems less detailed. I'm not a fan of the fire ring though because it has even less detail and seems to get in the way. Good job though! I love your ponies :D
