I'm new to this and thought it was a fun idea...I wasn't on here a year ago and even if I was I don't think I'd remember something from that long ago..gezzz, how the heck did you remember that? Anyway like I said it was, for me, an "original" idea. Now I see it's been done before. I'm new to the game so bare with me if something is similar to something else. I'm sure it's all been done before, somewhere, and since I not on many sites I won't know. So trust me I'm not trying to rip anyone off or anything. It's just an "unoriginal" idea I suppose.

I don't fault you on it... I'm pretty sure you never saw it. It's hard to come up with truly new ideas nowadays. Only reason I remembered is because it was my design and I was rather proud of it...

Love the Jayne hat, too.

Hey buppyspek and jesswong!

Thanks for the comments :-)
This is my first ever entry into the Woot! derby. I enjoy seeing the shirts that come out of here, and thought I would give it a shot. I don't expect it to get printed (there are some awesome entries), but it's nice to know that people like it.

Cheers!

Re: Inspired by: The A-Team and My Little Pony

Unfortunately, this isn't really on topic. It is supposed to be interpretations of the title... not characters in the show. So "the A-Team" doesn't really tell you anything about the people in it.

You might want to resub real quick with a new title. You have to have the "inspired by... " part in there.

I'm right there on the doesn't-fit-the-theme bandwagon. It's a pretty design, but I can't imagine anyone would look at it and say "Oh, I get it! A takeoff on the show Firefly!"

I mean, the Ugly Betty shirt got rejected because the "parody isn't clear enough". How in the world is this clearer?

The shirts here are getting prettier but less witty each derby. The humor is fading fast. I'm grumpy.

re: inspired by rocky and bullwinkle

I'm sorry but how is this a reinterpretation of the title? Nothing about "Rocky and Bullwinkle" suggests anything about squirrels and moose.

It's a great drawing, but like a LOT of these shirts I think the point of the derby is being missed.

Re: Inspired by Ugly Betty

This Ugly Betty parody is FAR clearer than Firefly (below), and this gets rejected while Firefly ends up in the fog?!?!?! First, Shirt Woot folks, you need to start discussing these rejections and acceptances among yourselves—they seem to be pretty inconsistent. And second, rest of us, we need to stop voting for something just cause it's "pretty"!

I don't know why this doesn't have more votes. This is my favorite derby entry by far. Maybe these young whippersnappers haven't heard or seen the show, which is a damn shame. Vote for it anyway, peeps! It's a great shirt. You have to trust me on this!

I will definitely buy this shirt if it prints!

Any chance of a clean posting to use for wallpaper? This would look great on my desktop.

Good work!

Well, I think you may be showing your age, though I guess it's been in reruns forever, so maybe not.

In any case, this truly is wonderful. Such a good likeness that it's immediately recognizable ... then after a minute, you notice the masher and the potatoes. Hilarious. Well done. And obviously, GMV.

Thanks! It'll need some work to make it horizontal. I want to do some other edits to it first, so I'll do it but it'll take a while. You might have to remind me. ;)

I would think that the shirt is looking for the color of the water. And we can see the eyes as the eye sockets of a very cool reaper's skull.

I think the concept is funny! ... but I don't like the style of the drawing...the guy looks some kind of Karate kid. It is probably a personal choice but when I think of someone capable of busting up a unicorn I think of like a big hulking viking, or just a really big, buff looking masculine guy (think Wrestlemania). Sorry, I think the Unicorn would win this match! Not to beat a dead horse, but the thumb is an issue....and I learned to punch from from a Billy Blanks video!

I love the concept though! That really cracks me up!

I did a graphic short story awhile back that was slated to be published in a Heavy Metal esque magazine someone I know was putting together. Unfortunately the magazine never came to be, and the work is unpublished.

Re: Inspired by Firefly

Artistically, ya, awesome.

Firefly reinterpretation? Not seeing it. Ya, I can see there is sort of a "fire" of the halftones there. But NOTHING in this says flies or fireflies. You can claim each of the little dots are fireflies all you want, but no normal person is every going to make that distinction without being told.

ha, you must have the same pop fiction knowledge as woot seems to

uh, Saved [from drowning] By The Bell

Mr. Bell-ding (ha, play on words if you didn't notice) was the principle of the show. And no, there really weren't any beach scenes until the 'College Years,' but that's beside the point.
