Agreed honestly. I set Link on the side as more of a joke that I didn't even plan on doing but just did for fun and only submitted because no one else had done one. Despite its voting success I much prefer this design.

I'm sorry to see this shirt didn't make the fog. It definitely deserved it and I was itching to get one.

Kudos on the awesome work though.

Congrats on top 4

If this shirt ends up for sale, I will most certainly buy it (pending if I have money).

Frankly, I think the explaination of the interpreted tv show title is fine. It is a reinterpretation after all...it doesn't have to be an obvious reinterpretation of a firefly.

Also, I won't be buying it solely because it is a reinterpretation...I would buy it because I think it looks nice. I don't care if people look at the shirt and don't think "oh, is that a reinterpretation of the tv show firefly?". Frankly, I've never even seen firefly, and I'm perfectly happy with it not being an obvious reinterpretation. I just like the shirt, plain and simple.

Re: Inspired By Mythbusters

see.. this shirt is a good example of the problem here.
Its in 5th place.. some hate it.. some love it.. I hate it so much i love it.. i think..

But you have a shirt like firefly.. that is likely to win and be made.. people voted for it because they liked the artwork.. or the tv show.. but will the buy/wear the shirt?

whereas this shirt got fewer overall votes, but Id bet a greater percentage of those who voted for this shirt WOULD buy it..

The art-first types around here are costing woot a lot of business...

This shirt is wicked awesome. I would definitely buy it. It was only defeated, because it split it's own support with a V1 and V2. Please make it an Editor's Pick. -murphyspub

I agree. Definitely make it an editor's choice. It's freaking awesome. I would buy it in a heartbeat. Not only would I buy it in a heartbeat, but I would buy TWO in a heartbeat. And show all my friends, so they would buy them too. :p

I really like all of Ramy's designs. I don't know why they are getting Gigli (2003) on so much. The cute animals are perfect for t-shirts, especially shirts people would purchase. There are much worse shirts that make it through derbies than these ones.

Re: Inspired by The Amazing Race

Personally I disagree with a lot of the comments out there. I mean this is a particular style. I mean if the animals were drawn more realistically I feel like it'd take more than 6 colors to make it look nice. Whereas, with a cartoony feel the same concept can be expressed just as well.

I feel like this shirt has a very awesome concept. In my opinion, the way you drew it doesn't seem that static to me at all and I can tell that they're all racing. If people understand the story behind it, then this race is very amazing in its own right.

And about the comments addressing that it's the same people who win all the time. That's not true. There's a reason that certain people win. Sure some people like sticking with the same choice. But it all depends on the appeal of the shirt AND the actual design. Sure there are some extremely detailed and artsy shirts also running in the derby but if a lot of people don't love the concept as much or can't see themselves wearing it then that might explain the lack of votes.

At least that's how I vote. I don't look at the artist's names so much as how much the shirt itself appeals to me and if I'd really wear it.

So great job, Seki! I absolutely LOVE this shirt. I love the Chinese Zodiac and I think that your take on this concept is absolutely adorable. I am definitely in for one if it prints! Good luck!
