Very nice piece and concept based on dreams. The gold color gives it just enough oomph.

Personally I love the filigree design, but the way it's implemented, it's too overpowering and the frog gets lost. I could see it working better if the frog were larger and were breaking out of the sides of the box, something like that. Great elements, just play with their layout a bit.

And now that I've commented on the first one, this is much much better. The frog really pops in this design.

I really like the giraffe...but I think it looks better on the blue, like in the pic, than on the black t-shirt. Better contrast, maybe.

Re: Grunge Deco

Sorry, not art deco. It's a cool design but it in no way goes with the theme at all. I'll be incredibly surprised if this doesn't get rejected, since there are entries that are rejected for not being art deco enough that are WAY more art deco than this one.

People, again, this shirt was in the fog when rejections hit and they haven't rejected anything since. It not being rejected has nothing to do with anything but the rule woot has not to reject when things are in the fog until they can discuss it on Monday and make a consensus decision.

This is NOT Art Deco - not even close. I think it's terrible that there are some designs that are definately Art Deco (and so much better than this) who won't even see the fog because so many people have mindlessly voted for this design (like they do every week) not caring that it isn't on theme.

If we had that particular blue, I'd try it out. Navy would clash, as it would be the wrong shade but the black is classically an Art Deco color, which is why I ultimately decided on that.

I appreciate the love for the dark peacock blue. PERHAPS IF WOOT GAVE US MORE COLOURS I COULD HAVE THAT CHOICE!

I have to disagree. Take away all the textures and chaos from the Grunge style and the original underlying design is Art Deco. I think in a derby like this it is okay to put a spin on it. Thanks

Yes, but by putting a "grunge style" spin on "art deco" it can no longer be classified under art deco.

You can not combine two differn't art styles and call it one or the other. Especially when adding modern style to classic art deco... If anything, this is simply modern grunge.

Like I said before, its a good looking design. I just don't see that it can be justified to fit the theme of the derby...

I love this! Very deco, and with such a sensual flow - a hard balance to pull off. You have a good concept, and it's just beautifully executed - colors, etc. Easily my favorite of any I've seen.

Could you post a detailed view? I'd love to see it better, and to use it for wallpaper, if you don't mind.

So glad you worked in the clouds and revised the sun! That's the best part by far. And on double-take, the ladybug is super-cute too! Still not feeling the monkey though, he just doesn't "fit" with the whole design for me. He's so "freeformed" in such a geometric little world!

And I agree, this week's derby is very biased and confusing, and forcing many talented artists to conform to such a subjective art form...tricky!

I would love to get this for my daughter, the poet! And yes, a female Muse would have been even better.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I'll get the chance, this derby. Could you post a detail, so I can show her what it would have looked like?

And if it fits into a future derby, I hope you'll submit a Deco Muse.

The problem is that this is about 10% art deco, 90% grunge. I'm all for doing something different that stands out, but when you go so far that it is no longer theme relevant than that shouldn't be allowed. Again, not knocking the design itself as bad, just saying that it doesn't fit.
