Re: Place This in Water

I remember my dad bringing back one of these from a trip to the States when I was, like, 10 - I thought it was so cool that I didn't want to 'spoil' it by putting it in water. I rediscovered it years later and it had gone all cakey

ramyb wrote:You aren't crazy, dinos definitely aren't my strong point. I debated for a while just doing a chibi dinosaur picture because I was more likely to be able to pull it off, but decided to try this anyway and just wasn't particularly successful. And I agree that this is more off than my animals were that received complaints, mainly because I think that the "errors" on those could be seen as stylistic choices, but they weren't really in this case.

I disagree completely. I like the dinosaur because it ties in with the design much better this way. It's certainly not anatomically correct, but it looks almost exactly proportioned the way the way the plastic T-rex toys I had as a kid (and Barney for that matter). It's really just the way you've drawn the kids that doesn't do it for me.

It's sort of disappointing because it's still obvious the dinosaur is yours from the thumbnail so it's even more apparent that the cuteness doesn't really have anything to do with your style. It's just a way you choose to draw. While it's just one persons opinion, I keep waiting for a design I can buy yet it seems to fall just short.

I only wish the shadow were the same style scribble as the dino...but I guess it could get lost.

There's actually some of the shadow scribble in the dino body, but you might well be right - I probably could have had some dino scribble in the shadow without it becoming unreadable.

Thanks everyone for the comments!

A google search, though, reveals that nobody else seems to have thought of 'angus deinonychus' as a play on 'angus dei,' though, so hooray for me.

I'm absolutely floored by this design. Drakxxx you've quickly become my favorite artist on shirt.woot! and if this makes it to the top 3 (which I have no doubt in my mind that it will) you will be responsible for me wooting my first blue shirt since this site was launched. GMV!!

Heheh, this is cute. I think bulkiness of the house kind of overpowers the design a bit though. Otherwise, nice style and color scheme.
