Thanks again for liking it!

Re: ...and the mouse waves goodbye.

I didn't vote for this, but if it wins, I will end up buying one for my sister. She'd like the mouse and green is her favorite color.

I already have too many green shirts from Woot!

Re: Surely you can't be serious!

No fog...
and what DO we get?

another flightless bird trying to fly..
another cute cat..
more pirates..
random colors..

yay

If only the fog was big enough to also fit a tree... and maybe a turtle..
/sarcasm

this really needs to be an editors choice

p1k4 wrote:SERIOUSLY! such an AWESOME AWESOME design! where are the votes? THIS SHOULD BE IN THE FOG!!!!

It's because so many people vote for goofy ones at the beginning. Then everyone searches by the most popular and no one sees this. (My guess).

It's infatuated though. This design is amazing, I would sooooo buy this!

But then a shirt that has a fish farting doesn't get rejected? I would have voted for this one.

No, no, see it works because it makes it appear as the cat is shocked and surprised.

This is just INSANELY awesome. The only reason I could imagine this not making it in the fog is because it was submitted really late. Am I right?
This had BETTER get the next editor's pick.

Yet another beautiful Edgar masterpiece woefully ignored by the Woot voting masses.

An artist with a fairly consistent aesthetic produces something consistent with that aesthetic, which is popular with shirt.wooters (obviously), and that's pandering?

Man, I haven't been here all that long, but I feel pretty comfortable calling that Ishtar (1987).

actually this was submitted within minutes of the derby opening... thanks for your comments and support though!

skulls might be a little too edgy for some woot voters i guess. how awesome it would be to make it into the fog im really just happy to get in the top 20 and a opportunity to share artwork with other people and recive tons of positve feedback is totally worth it.

thanks again everybody! may not submitt again for a bit due to my power supply on my "big" computer blew up and took the motherboard with it. but... ill be back

I'm horribly bummed that damn cat kicked your shirt out of the fog, man. Was going to actually buy two shirts out of this derby otherwise.

Hopefully there's another rehash derby soon!

And thanks for the advice I'll look at some of those artists, I use a lot of brushes in my artwork and I just wanted to show that off in a shirt, it was just a start for me. I was just glad that I got up to 4th place, never thought I would get that far with a shirt.

Too bad, this is the only shirt worth buying in the derby, IMO. Those cartoony guppy things are in the fog?? Seriously, yours is a shirt I would have bought...none of those others. This is what makes shirt.woot suk. Oh well, best of luck to you!

re: little dreams (resub)

I've been a loyal wooter for a while now, and I'm breaking the ice with my first post. In fact, this is my first post to any online forum, although I've been a regular lurker of many for several years. I think the subject matter that drives me to post today is pretty hilarious...

When I first visited shirt.woot to check the daily offering, I was mildly bewildered and thoroughly amused. I did not see the yellow legs and beak on the kiwi (due to poor lighting and laying on my side with one eye closed). My immediate impression was that someone designed a shirt featuring a turd tied to balloons, floating away to some unlucky destination. Hahahah.

Disclaimer: Do not attack me for negativity or criticism. I like the shirt after realizing the full design. However, I probably would not buy it out of fear that people would have the same initial reaction when I wore it.

Regarding the design - (as long as I'm breaking my silence, I might as well shout it out) - I like simple designs. I have purchased about 15 shirts and most of them are relatively simple. My views on the age-old "amazing artwork vs. simple designs" debate are in support of simple designs. The objective is to get printed and get paid. To me, the ends justify the means. Similarly, musicians strive to get paid, and the ones collecting the biggest paychecks are often not putting out the most amazingly intricate tunes. That's the way it goes. If simple designs are commercially successful, I'd be all over them. Admittedly, I am not an artist; I'm an accountant.

I realize these are not original comments. Actually, the helium-powered-floating-turd reaction is original as far as I can tell. I guess I just felt like flapping my gums for a while on my first post.

erei wrote:Ahh, I'm glad I didn't stop myself from posting back to you guys. Haha.

I can only say thank you, to everyone, including those who were a little frustrated with how the derby is going this week.

I cannot deny that having a chance at winning was pretty amazing, but yes it was sad to see that it was something less like how I would normally do. And even scarier seeing the responses of people less than happy with the standings. (But ah, such is life.)

In all honesty, and not just ass kissing, I really loved many of the other submissions much more than my own. Actually it really sucked to see how intently people try to get certain designs voted off the derby? But all in the game I suppose. I really do look forward to doing more designs and seeing more of what you all put out too.

I think that for the future, a good place for me to post would be where people have been going is the blog/forums. At least I can take the shots there before it's actually in the runnings haha. For the time being I shall hold my armless turd lovingly and see what happens after tonight.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to read, comment, and actually come back and comment again.

Hey... I'm not really intense wooter who votes in every derby and reads every comment posted... actually I never read these forum things...I'm just back for the summer and bored as hell so I wanted to read what people had to say about this design.

I'm a simple person who just checks shirt.woot every day and buys a design if I really like it... and I'll buy a shirt if I REALLY REALLY like it. Though I can't be sure, I would assume that people like me represent the majority of shirt.wooters out there... unless there really are as many active-woot members as there are of people buying these shirts. I've seen all the complaints people have been making, and I understand that they're upset that their complicated and time-spent designs weren't chosen by the public... but at the same time... these are shirts that buyers are choosing, so that's gotta mean something. The point of shirt woot and all that voting stuff is to let EVERYONE choose the design they like most on a tee shirt, right? We're not picking for complexity...just what we'd wear.

Personally, I am a person for simplicity, and I would prefer wearing a design that is really simple. I LOVED your shirt the moment I saw it. When I saw it for sale today, I bought it in a heartbeat, so kudos to you. Just some words of encouragement for you, despite what others may say :D
