Re: Dancing in the Rain

I love these characters! I definitely thought of the bear as a kind of imaginary friend in the 'winter' design, so it would be pretty awesome if the bear were invisible in the reflection - next time!

Love the lop rocking out at the bottom, though he seems to be hearing different music than the others. :D

flibbityjibbet wrote:I'm surprised this hasn't been rejected, to be honest.

As many "dandelion" shirts were rejected, citing the reason, "There are too many dandelion shirts", I can't fathom a DDR shirt making it into the fog without being canned.

More hypocracy from woot, I suppose.

I think you're missing the point of the dandelion rejections. We rejected those because there are shirts that are for sale other places that are very similar. I won't defend this shirt as the pinnacle of taste or high design, but unless you're able to point out another Vader/DDR shirt, the same criteria won't apply.

I will say on the copyright issue, that this shirt arguably (and I mean very arguably) is parody. That's how we can allow use of copyrighted images.

I like the concept and parts of how it was drawn but I think the romance isn't depicted well. I would have rather seen them actually dancing.

It's weird how similar this shirt's color scheme is to the School Dance shirt.

Re: Dancin Shoes

I really like the colors and the outlines of the shoes, but I'm not a huge fan of the giant ankle/foot that they're in. It took me a couple looks to realize what it was, and if you don't notice the heel, the toe at the bottom looks really, really strange.

Nice style, though.

Fun concept, though the cat looks a little limp to me with his/her legs and tail just hanging. Maybe a bit of curl to the tail would give it more life.

Thanks for the kind words. I don't know, maybe because it was a late entry or I'm new or maybe it doesn't appeal to the majority of the voters.

It was a little bit of a stray stylisticly for me, but it was a fun piece to work on.

Good luck to all and Thanks again.

I agree the placement is too high; especially for a woman. I like the off-center placement and would definitely vote for it if the placement were lower..Love the colors!

This would be the equivelant of portraying a group of men walking casually in circles, and calling that "dancing". I just don't see it, that's all.

Fireflies don't usually fly in a spiral. To me it looks like they're dancing. If it were just a swarm of flies, I wouldn't think so.

Yeah, I'd prefer a black shirt but I wanted to make sure the dancer was black as well. I couldn't find a way to make that as crisp as what I got here but I'll play with it some more and it might show up on some other site someday.

Yes, fireflies usually do not fly in a spiral... but i have never heard of flying in a spiral shape as a symbol for dancing... the shirt does look awesome though... just simply not seeing any form of dancing...

Ah ok.... I was kind of wondering what was going on with this shirt. I usually like a lot of KR's work, and this is adorable, but honestly I thought it was a joke on KR's part since the way they were drawn is soooo similar to the dancing hamsters everyone knows. When it picked up votes and hotness and KR seemed to be serious, I was a little baffled!

Vote!

I see the fireflies doing a "hula" type dance, from side to side rather than a spiral. Perhaps motioning like one of those cobras that's being hypnotized by a snake charmer.
