Ummm, 1984 was a book first... it's very much on theme, well executed and quite aesthetically pleasing.

I liked the original grenade and oil derrick much better. I think the factory stacks detract with their current placement and muddle the design, but can understand/appreciate what you were going for.

this design is really clean, one of my favorites here! plus it's not so blunt as to it's meaning as some of the others are.

It's the title of a famous book, and also a phrase. It's when two conditions have a "catch" that contradict each other. In the book, if I remember correctly, the specific example was that if pilots in World War 2 were too crazy, they weren't allowed to fly. But the only pilots who would fly the missions they wanted had to be absolutely insane to begin with.

I would love to vote for this design if I could see it better... From what I can see it does have potential. Also, scary man with beard who is waving at me, not doing it for me. I'd go with a comp that either has no person, or that you place it up high so that their scary face doesn't distract my attention from your artwork.

I'm glad it helped! I checked out the v2 and it is muy better in that area. I DID like the blue, but red works too though. Both colors have a really good contrast for the yellow tones of your design. Good luck!

Well said, godslinger (not about your dumb brain, because I don't know you well enough to make that judgment call)! Indeed, I'd venture to say that shirts are intended simply for the brief but entertaining reaction by friends and the INITIAL conversation starter; NOT for an extended philosophical conversation regarding the intrinsic value of the shirt's cryptic message itself.

As with any attention getter, such as the aesthetics of a website, or the commercial break on TV, there is a brief 5-7 second window in which the audience's limited attention can be won over before they change the channel or website. So with a shirt, most people will walk away if they don't quickly grasp the idea of the shirt, thus defeating the purpose of attraction attention.

Again, in agreement, pandas are awesome! I hope this shirt gets printed
