It seems to me like people on this thread could use a nice cup of sun in a can! That is waht I drink when I am feeling low or upset

It's very cute and amusing Fable. Maybe a placement like this would balance it out more. (I made a quick example). I think it would look off balance if you just had the 2 fiery clouds. The smaller cloud seems to fit in there nicely though.

Your design sensibilities are off the charts Drakxxx! How you conceive of these images is one thing; how you render them is quite something else. I cannot understand why you don't win these derbies more often - clearly there is a disconnect somewhere. But at least we have next week to look forward to another of your designs. Please keep submitting them and I'll keep voting for them.

MadamAtom wrote:Actually, I don't think that's a problem with this design. One circle is the exact problem size, but too low to matter; and the other's center (especially the inner dot) is too close to the shirt's center to really highlight the nipple.

Hmm... I see your point, but I still think this would look odd on a girl's girly parts.

I wonder How it would look if the circles were less huge. I like the way the lines create some depth/movement.

jcooper1 wrote:Thanks, I looked at different colored shirts but couldn't quite decide on a color to put it on. Any suggestions?

I love this - it's beautiful and unusual. Very nice. I agree about the white background... it's hard to say what might be a good background instead. Perhaps a delicate green or a delicate yellow? I think a coral or light teal might overwhelm it. Same for a strong yellow. I think black would make the design pop...

This looks very nice. Unfortunately I do think it will print thin because woot does not print as low as this shirt comp represents. I probably will still buy one although my woot shirt drawer is already overflowing.

I love it! You did an awesome job making it look like more than 6 colors. I see you used a green though so I'm wondering why the earth is blue and orange.

I agree that your technique is as wicked as this sun. The only thing really bugging me about it are the eyebrow things above and below the eyes. They feel a bit disjointed and just "floating" in front of his face instead of feel like a part of his face. That's my only issue, because I think it's awesome how scary-tastic he looks, but I'm sure that scares away the fluffy bunny fan club on here too. Next time make a crazy scary fluffy bunny to appeal to a broader audience ;D

Creme
Orange
3 Turquoises
Burgandy
Brown

Um, no...
There are only to blue tones (turquoises)
I think your assessment of the color imediately inside of the light blue as another color is incorrect, it is actually many thin lines.
I am still working on figuring out what ppi and physical size to save my jpegs (shirt comp) as... I usually do 8 x 10 at 200 ppi... For some reason photoshop will fuzz everything up sometimes.

you need to save them exactly at woot's size, so that they don't resize them. They'll compress them anyway, so you also need to save at the highest quality possible, with no compression. shirt comp is 580x580 pixels, detail image is 240x240 pixels. You'll still get some artifacts in the red colors, but otherwise you'll be OK.

Sorry to have "horrified" and "disturbed" you to the point that you used your first post to discuss it. Things that also might horrify you: a man, his dog, and the population of the planet about to be roasted alive because the sun just exploded. Elmer Fudd shooting himself in the face with a shotgun. An innocent tiger on fire. A bunny rabbit that just ate another bunny rabbit, complete with pile of blood and bones. A cartoon baby trying to murder his own mother. You might not want to get on the internet or watch TV ever again. You certainly shouldn't visit woot if bad things happening to cartoons affect you in such a melodramatic way.

Okay, here's an honest opinion: I think that people who are pretentious enough to quote Rilke and Denison should shampoo my crotch.

xtinaftw wrote:Lol, no joke. And I actually put it on a real comp, and spent more than 5 minutes making it. Not that my vote count is very indicative.

The halftones, I believe, are too large. I think the idea, the text that you have on the detail are great, but the shirt, without the wording, would require possibly too much explanation. I think, also, the black shadows on the halftone detract - perhaps determine some way to get that feel, if it is what you want, with more halftones, or maybe a solid shadow in the same colour as the halftones, or in a highlight colour, such as yellow for orange, etc.

I try to give constructive criticism, as long as I know it will be taken constructively.

camoor wrote:Yeah, and this isn't the only design that is scientifically unsound. I saw one artist here who drew a sun wearing sunglasses. Why would the sun wear sunglasses, it's not like it has to avoid seeing itself (think about it - there are no mirrors that big). Also the sun is a ball of fire, so it would totally burn any sunglasses put on its face.

This is coming from the guy that made the sunglasses shirt. Our sun is estimated to become a red giant in about 5 billion years according to Wikipedia. This means the sun will be much larger than Earth's orbit. This depiction is not that of our sun 5 billion years from now, not at all. If you believe in other tenants of modern science you will probably believe in natural selection and evolution. The observers here are h0mo sapiens and canis lupus familiaris. Simply, in 5 billion years these two species will have evolved or become extinct.

My deduction is that this shirt depicts a modern day catastrophe. Something very large has just impacted the sun. The cracks, in the artistic representation, resulting from the event are the artist's own, nothing of that magnitude has ever been observed.

they didn't use any pure greens though. that's just the blue and yellow used in other places mixed together. I guess it could still be used for the land on earth though. hm.
