Please do print this one elsewhere... This would be the perfect gift for my cat loving sister and I want one as well. Your illustration captures the moment perfectly.

I mean, I like the idea of ants getting lit on fire. I may even like an idea of an ant willingly lighting himself on fire. This is just a bit too close for me, personally, and I can understand why others would throw around words like "offended".

If he ditched or altered the treble clef and turned the current notes into stylized suns and played with the colors, he'd be fine.

I mean, just stylize this concept and you're golden.

Eh, they seem to be more about no nudity than PG-13. And while no nip is a general rule of thumb, there's lots of other parts about this that push it into questionable territory.

We both know how "popular" your weathering/distressing is with the community, but I wanted to point out that in all of the other designs where you've used it, it's at least looked pretty good/similar to real weathering. This is coming from someone that owns The Epic Begins.

On this design, it's just not the same, though.

Thanks guys!

The sun does look like a vortex. And someone here told me it looks like a bale of hay. Either way works for me.

That's what I was going to suggest, but with the shirt color brown at the edges of the hole and gradually/topographically fading to an inked darker brown.

the arms were difficult for me to figure out. I had a hard time with them overall and redid them about 4 or 5 times. I'm definitely looking for a different way to rework this piece in the future and hopefully the arms won't be as difficult.

Re: Photosynthesis

Really nice concept/artwork. Personally I wouldn't want to wear this on a shirt but that's just my style.

Also, has anyone noticed that the head and necks of the two beings look like penises? maybe its just my sick mind but they totally do to me.

Re: Summer Refreshed

Oops... I forgot to leave a comment. This is my design "Summer Refreshed". I was going to have it dripping into a glass of lemonade, but for some reason that didn't look right. So I just left it as a simple sunny lemon design. Hope everyone likes it.

Yes, they just got done giving miss' sun the bizz. Orginally I was going to have them caught in bed but it didnt work for a tshirt design, so I figured sneeking out of the house was just as good, graphically. Yeah it makes me want to play mario bros again too.

I generally don't go for the cutsey, but you've got my vote for the awesome song reference! I thought of that song immediatly on seeing it along with your title too.. The live version of it on "Beside You In Time" is pretty awesome!

I like this version better. I really think this is an example where the "scratchy" (see: DeadFrog) motif could really add to the design. The thumb looks like the sun has a bit of texture to it, but it doesn't come through on the full image.

The thumbnail really doesn't do the image justice. It looks like a generic cartoony sun on a white shirt. Only those who actually click through will get to see the pun.

I don't think there's enough risk for the artist to be inclined to put their absolute best foot forward since about all they lose is time, and maybe respect, but I've only seen that happen to a chosen few, and even when it does, it is almost always reversible.

Sometimes I still struggle with why I believe that all of Woot's designers should strive to do their best (but most of all, why I should do my best), however you make an extremely good point. This is a contest where people don't *have* to do their best to win. In fact, a lot of the time voters unknowingly (or knowingly) encourage what others would call mediocre. And how are the people who put effort in their work supposed to compete with that? It's kind of maddening..

Anyway, I suppose in the end it's all a matter of personal choice/your ability to lose a little bit of dignity (or not). And with $1000 on the line, I doubt many care as long as the voters like what they see.

*ahem* Anyways, welcome back Ramy. I don't particularly like this design as it's a little too abstract for me, but I'll be looking forward to your future entries.
