According to the blank box beside your name, you don't have any woots (haven't made any purchases), so you can't vote.

If you did in fact purchase something from sellout.woot, maybe sellout.woot DOESN'T count. I've always heard other people cite it as well though.

You might want to email shirt@woot.com to find out if it's a bug.

NYCtShirt wrote:Thanks for the help. I never would have guessed "depressing", probably a different shirt color would have helped. I will do a better presentation, I like the blood red schools out idea.

I thought they looked like sharks, and to a diver you have to admit, the view would be pretty depressing (unless you're crazy like Steve Irwin or the Snake Master). It's like the barrel of a gun, but with sharks - COOL

I really did like it - the perspective was cool, the design was iconic, I just felt it was missing a little pizazz, maybe you could have used another color or two.

This is all IMO from a non-artist, just a woot veteran :D I wish you luck and hope to see you in the fog!

Re: The Last Day

I didn't realize that this artist also did the recent tornado design which I loved and bought. Kudos!

When I first saw this entry, my first thought was how pretty it was with the half tones and the color choices. The man and the dog added another level of interest. Then, I must admit that I puzzled over the fragmentation of the sun in chunks. Even though this derby is about the sun, I started seeing the object more as a moon. This design is too pretty not to support, so I was able to rationalize it for myself.

I do really wish these forums could be a place to share ideas, no matter how diverse or different they are, without someone going into attack mode. I think it's possible to disagree without being nasty.

eHalcyon wrote:Are these actual authentic hieroglyphics? That is, are they taken from real Egyptian text or translated by someone who knows how to read/write hieroglyphics? I'm assuming that it isn't, in which case these "hieroglyphics" are equivalent to drawing fancy strokes meant to suggest, for example, Chinese characters - they're not real text, just images made to look like text to the untrained eye.

It might be that hieroglyphics, being pictoral, are simply impossible to moderate. Everyone knows the basic forms of other alphabets (your arab and greek and kanji and the like), but hieroglyphic could just as easily be decoration alone and not text. I don't imagine it'd be an issue unless there was enough set up in such a way as to believe it was supposed to be sloganish or something

That would be an interesting derby theme...hieroglyphic slogans.

And I'm pretty sure we'd all be cooked alive before we got a chance to see anything anyway. But I don't care cuz it looks cool. I need a red shirt badly, and we don't get a lot of good looking red shirts. I just hope it's printed like it looks on here.

What better way to spend the last day than with man's best friend?

It takes light from the sun about 8 minutes to reach us on the earth, so we probably would get to see some crazy fireworks.

you say this sarcastically, as if there are people who actually run quality control on a regular basis.

I mean, there's that one guy who sometimes rejects on a whim, but no one actually does quality control on non-compliant entries.

but it didn't!! this shirt didn't make it to the top 3!! how did good taste prevail?? B^) sorry to disagree with you but this shirt was a nice shirt, the only other shirt in the fog that was on par with this was the good morning sunshine the earth sez howdy shirt. the only reason i didn't care for that was kuz o the earth at the bottom B^( the sun was awesome!! if it were just the sun i would totally buy that shirt.
