xtinaftw wrote:All my defaults are set to RGB so I know that wasn't the issue. Must be the gif to jpg. Haven't seen a noticeable difference before today though. I usually go with .gif since sometimes the jpegs are too big. Is it better to reduce the resolution a little to get the jpg small enough? I don't even really know what the exact differences are between file types in terms of the effect it has. Maybe I should go look that up...
Wow, your jpg exceeds 500k? Whenever I entered (and I did so frequently last year) I used an uncompressed jpg and I've never had problems. Woot runs their own compression on submissions so it's better to submit uncompressed if you want to keep your image as high quality as possible. Checklist for clean comps: - 580x580px comp, 240x240px detail image. Submit them at these exact dimensions. Larger or smaller will prompt Woot to resize it on their end, which results in bluriness. - RGB mode and jpg. - Uncompressed if possible - Woot will compress it on their end. Contrary to popular belief, DPI/PPI don't matter as those parameters only affect printing size. On-screen, it's all the same. As for file types - I don't know the specifics. BMP is a horrible format. JPG is pretty standard and is good all-around. GIF is nice for images with few colours due to the way information is stored in that format. And you can do lots of fancy stuff with PNG.
Re: Aliens Vacation at Loch Ness
lot of Loch Ness Ts in this derby, i wonder which one will get the most votes =P

Thanks for the tips. Yeah, this one wasn't too big, but I've had at least two or three in the last few derbies where the shirt comp was ~600k as a jpeg and I wasn't sure why since they are usually around 300k. Then because of those incidents, I didn't see a quality difference so I started using gifs for shirt comps to be safe, but I guess I will back away from that. And my comps and thumbnails are defaulted to the correct pix range.
Re: I think it's the rabbit
Now with background!
Sorry for thread spamming but I'm really not sure what people are reading. I need help. I'm trying to submit a design and I upload all the files except the print ready but I get an error message of oh snap you need you to fix something, but it wont tell me what I need to fix. Any ideas? My templates are under the limit, I'm really at my wits end as to what is the matter. the size of the shirt template is: 208 KB (213,885 bytes), which should be way under the limit, and I have used RGB scheme.

Thanks for the compliment
Re: Another Mystery
Woah thank you for that compliment! hoho yeah I realized as soon as I posted that I just gave away my identity to anyone with 30 seconds of free time hoho. Oops! Anywho... speaking of real entries... I dunno... I dislike the 24 hour timeline because I just see it as encouraging bad design. If I had ever done any of my other shirt (or other designs for that matter) and just stopped at 24 hours the final product would be vastly different. I find usually things are best when you go back after taking a break from it and look again with fresh eyes.
re: i think it's the rabbit
XDDD yesh! i was totally the bunny! i love it!
Re: An Unfolding Mystery
Very cool and a nice color scheme!
Its cute, and looks well drawn. GMV plus i'm a sucker for kitties

I hope it doesn't run up against the no text thing.. the mystery of the lone sock is one's of life's great peeves to me...

Re: The Lost City of Atlantis
I'm guessing Jewelwing. She seems to like drawing underwater stuff. But I don't see that greenish/seafoamy color. So maybe not her, but this one looks really cool!
Re: Cats With Weapons
Kitties are always good.

I feel like Ski-ing! While wearing a fedora..

Re: The Mystery Of Creation
Interesting, but I wish the overall layout was a little less blocky.

You can look at it as a challenge. If after 24 hours you aren't satisfied, consider it an exercise or brainstorming process, something to be revisited later. If you think it's acceptable, submit it. Then if it wins, that's good for you. If it doesn't, it is, again, something you can revisit later on and improve for a submission elsewhere.

I think I need a Buffett or beach fix, seem to have sea scenes on the brain.
It's not really a mystery.
It has a totally different feel from the shirt at threadless, to me. My only concern is, as already mentioned, how well it will print.

I laughed, and I laughed at the design. Of course professionally I could never condone mocking fellow artists... ah whatever, kiss my grits floral vectors, you were never even attractive to begin with.

It's all black.
jewelwing wrote:You're way cool.
Aha! A simple reply to this comment revealed who you are. Man, I wish I didn't notice.
A design isn't doomed if it doesn't hit the Cinderella-like Friday at midnight deadline... as long as a good design comes in before Monday or so it truly has a fighting chance.
xtinaftw wrote:I'll say too. You are getting some mild voting action at the moment and it will all have been a waste once the rejectionator rolls through. Resubmit sooner rather than later.
Oi! Mosh good! please resubmit this on a tee
if you look at the design again it seems like he's not an "invisible man" but more of a shadowy figure who's face can't be seen. that's what it looks like to me. of course it depends on if that was actually what the artist was going for.

Good point, never really thought of it that way. Hopefully I will find the time to do some of this... it really all depends on whether I enjoy the theme and whether I have work on Fridays hehe... But thanks again for your support.

Flaw in your plan: Drakxxx is terribly underprinted, I think only 2 derby wins in his extensive and extensively awesome subbing career.
Re: Ghost Town
It's too "boxy" for my taste. Designs that fade away or trail off rather than having clear cut edges are more appealing to me. other than that I like it, might vote later, unless you resub, then i def will

That rose with its aura reminds me of the magic one from Beauty and the Beast...
One in the fog and one approaching it - in completely different styles no less. Nice parodies of pandering imho.
