Simple is not bad unless it is also bad. Simple itself can often be just what a design needs.

I hate saying it, because I feel like this is probably someone I generally like's entry, but the fact is that there is no reason for cats except for cute-votes. You are arguing your three-dimensional circles off that crayons are worse, but they make sense and, ergo, make for a far stronger joke, simple or not.

Lazy depends on who is doing it. I think it would take me a while to do that design with the textures nicely differentiated like are.
