xtinaftw wrote:The Male Files? Not sure I get it. Or is that not what you meant when you titled it the XY Files?

really just a play on the x-files title - more like human files. But I kind of like the male/mail files take, too.

What if there were grays out there somewhere trying to solve strange, paranormal cases? Maybe we, as humans, are really the unsolveable cases... ;-)

I had a poster on the wall behind him, originally (with an airplane instead of a spaceship), but couldn't make it work right.

Voting

Only users who have made at least one purchase at any Woot site may vote in the Derby. If that’s you, just click “I’d Want One” next to any designs that catch your fancy. You can vote for as many different designs as you like, but only once per design. If you don’t see the “I’d Want One” buttons next to the designs, you’re either not logged in, or you’ve never bought anything from Woot. Go log in and/or buy something if you want to vote.

(your purchase doesn't have to be a shirt, it could also be from woot.com, sellout.woot.com, or wine.woot.com)

The top 3 designs are sold on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

You might find something on Woot.com today, as they are offering multiple items today in their "Woot Off".

You can ride with me, or you can find your own path. Don't stab me in the back after I've cleared the way.

Which is the main reason I won't buy this when (not "if" - I think the woot staff have already made their blind-eye clear on this point) it prints. I recall being shocked and bristling when I first started reading derby threads and saw how people slammed a certain couple for their entries - but now I really do understand how that disgust came about.

I wish this piece of offal would fall out of the fog and make room for something decent that an artist spent time to do their best on. Again, I feel like it was a good idea wasted on a rushed and incompetent design.

EndGameOmega wrote:I understand woot's definition of text, and I don't agree with it. What I'm try to argue is why I don't agree with it, however no one seems to be understand my argument and I'm not saying that just because they don't agree but because they don't understand the distinction I've been pointing out. Just because a shape can be typed on a keyboard doesn't mean the shape it self is text. What matters is it's context and how it is used. You obviously agree with this, hence your comment about 'X's in someones eyes.

The symbol for pi in a mathematical sense if very far removed from it's textual counter part. It's no longer a letter, or punctuation but rather a symbolic representation for a deep mathematical connection. I don't consider the relation ship between a circles components to be text, which is what pi symbolizes. It's not a word or even a part of one, it's a full out complex symbol with meanings interwoven with in it.

The problem I have is that as soon as you consider mathematical shapes structures and symbols as a true language, then any symbolic representation of anything (this includes pictures, as well as drawings, figures, etc...) becomes a textual language as well.

EndGameOmega... I do appreciate your arguement and I agree with you 100%... The Pi symbol itself actually has letters which make it a word to be understood "PI" not PIE... Draw a Dog... wait they have character symbols on keyboards for that! Is that text? In fact anything VECTOR graphics wise on a computer uses 01010101, binary code... hense numbers, oops, TEXT! The point being is EndgameOmega is correct.. He is simply saying that my T-shirt, although probably if still in would have been in the back still, using the Pi symbol, recreating it in this light represents the Mystery behind it... behind The Infinite Pi... forget the text part and understand that you yourself don't understand Pi, it's a mystery...
And not considering that EndgameOmega feels that was a bad call, that's all...

Again, Thanks gang for the discussion... glad to see we can easily and freely TEXT our opinions... I think I'm going to learn Greek now!

Peace!

noisdois wrote:But if you look at the bunny's big foot "stilts", you can see that they're not going into the ground. He's not making holes with his tracks. It looks to me like he has something on the bottom of them (mud?) and is making tracks, rather than deep holes in the ground.

Also, if you look under the bunny's right foot (the one that is lifted up) the foothold underneath his foot is not attached to the stilt.

I still really love this concept. I'm not trying to tear this guy down, I'm just pointing out what I see. Maybe I should just keep my trap shut. :/

edit: okay, so upon closer inspection, there's no mud on the bottom of his feet. I don't really understand how he's making tracks that the hunter is following, because the indentation in the grass that he's making shouldn't be deep enough for the hunter to step "into." Oh well, I'm going to just drop the subject.

No, no, it's all valid. The fact that the foothold under the bunny's foot is not attached to the stilt has been bothering me ever since I first saw the design as well, so I'm glad someone else noticed. As to the mud/lack of mud/tracks/holes--it doesn't add up, but I am pretty sure that the artist's intention was indeed for the hunter to be stepping into the holes. Maybe there's no mud on the big feet because they would be harder to discern as such otherwise? Maybe some shading would have been appropriate to indicate that the tracks were indentations and not just mud marks?

Either way, I still like the design, and given the prospect of what would happen to people who stared at my chest long enough to notice the discrepancies, I think it's safe .

That is why Princess Mononoke is important. You see people's limbs and heads getting shot off, as well as blood. This would never be allowed in a PG-13 like The Dark Knight or LotR except for the fact that it is more stylized than those due to the cartoon style. If the people in this shirt were NOT silhouetted then I would agree that this crosses the line.
