Excellent illustrative work. A+ and GMV.

Things like this remind me that I really need to brush up my techniques in vector.

No way! This is clearly a brand new design.

Dude, you're an amazing cartoonist. Do you draw it out in pencil first, or do it straight on a tablet?

Never heard of 'em. It was a band name a friend of mine came up with a long time ago- thought it was hilarious and used it.

thanks tgentry! I usually draw strait on my tablet, when doing shirt designs. but I occasionally sketch ideas out on paper first. this one I did on my tablet but it really depends. you cant beat a good old pencil and a piece of paper! I love tactile media!

marmls2m wrote:i have not yet looked through all the entries in this derby, but i am fairly sure this is the worst band tee i have ever seen. is the green swirly supposed to be the band logo? if it is, that is also a very poor decision on the part of your fake band. a band logo is supposed to be something easily recognizable to help brand the band. the only way this would work is if your fake band was so popular, the name struck immediate recognition, which is the opposite of what this derby is going for, coolness through obscurity. without it, i would think the person wearing this shirt was a jamba juice employee wearing their work shirt out in public

What....? I have a feeling this made sense in your head when you said it, for serious, what?

Just about everything about this is fairly unique and if you've ever been to a concert, it fits in with just about all of the merchandise sold unless death-core speed metal bands are the only shows you go to. Between the font, the colors, and the symbol which is unique enough to stand out and immediately be recognized, this is just about everything a band would want in a shirt. And this derby has nothing to do with obscurity, it was simply a lead in by woot that obviously if an obscure band is cool than a non-existent one but be absolutely fracking awesome!!!

It was a joke. Get it? Jokes are funny. hah hah?

This is pretty awesome. Could this be your larpers all grown up? It's absolutely criminal that someone with as much talent as you've shown with your incredibly detailed entries has not printed more.

This has the feel of the old Al Hirshfeld drawings. I wanted to look for the name NINA in all the places where lines intersected.

hewtab wrote:On a side note, why did the artist use Hermione's wand for this shirt? Shouldn't it be Draco's or even Voldemort's.

I'm going to hate myself for admitting I know this . . .

The artist used Hermione's wand because she's the most famous "mudblood" in the series. Draco is a pureblood and Voldermort is, I believe, a half-blood (like Harry).

Thank you so much! I can't take all the credit. My boyfriend came up with this name a while ago and we joked that it should be the name of our band. When I read the derby theme this week we both knew it would be perfect. I will take the credit for the artwork though

Thank you for your encouragement, maybe one day one of my entries will get printed! That would be really really awesome! It must be a pretty satisfying feeling to know there are people walking around with your art on their shirt.

This is my favorite of all your owls! I like the purple on navy and the outer space that's in the background. The whole design looks kinda kooky and I love that. What's that on his chest? GMV!
