Nobody dissin' anybody here - just a friendly competition. What shirt did you design? I'd like to check it out!

If I had to guess, I'd say most of the concerts you've been to were not in the last ten years. I'd also like to say that your entire idea about what kinds of bands should have what types of shirts is completely backwards. For the most part, the more obscure low billing bands playing small venues, particularly indie bands, are much more likely to have merch like this not the big bands.

Well known bands usually have very loud dead weasels with a lot of text promoting whatever national or world tour they happen to be on much like the cowbell shirt. The smaller bands currently depend a lot more on a dedicated fanbase and tend to go the route of a simple more artistic design that often has nothing to do with the band itself and the band name. There is room for both. You can hot tamale and moan about how, "lol dis is sum jamba juicezzzz der" but you really have no idea what you're talking about.

fatheed wrote:Awesome design. Should certainly be in the Top 3. And the cymbal really is a non-issue. It can be so easily rearanged if it's picked and I'll eat my hat if Joel has any problem with changing it up.

I'd have to agree. It's a minor change and I don't think anyone would actually be upset about the change since it really improves the design just by moving it forward (and most probably didn't notice it was behind before you said anything and they probably would never know that it hadn't been in front all along after a change).

This really needs to have the name of the band in the background before I vote for it. But I love the idea.

If this doesn't win a spot I don't know what will. This is just classic and I will most definitely buy this one. The best part of it is that it is clearly fake but at the same time not ruining the point of the Derby.

eHalcyon wrote:Made some tweaks; good enough to share now, I think. Any musicians around who could write some music and then record it for us?

If possible, the bass line should throb with emotion, beating like a broken heart. Also, it should be played not on a bass guitar but on a didgeridoo.

Eucalyptus Melancholy, the critically acclaimed emo-core rock group from down under, takes its name from their first hit single. Written by lead singer Joey Cinereus, the group calls the song the culmination of their depressing, meaningless life in the trees.

Eucalyptus Melancholy

No water left to shed a tear
My haunting pain is not enough
Motionless I strain to hear
The broken melody of love
You are the only one I fear
You leave me hanging from above

I can't hold on, I can't hold on
I'm crashing down, I'm crashing down

Eucalyptus melancholy
Toxic leaves ever befall me
Slip into the shadowed valley
Death is near, I live for folly
Eucalyptus melancholy
Eucalyptus melancholy

I've only poison words to eat
No roses here, I sleep in thorns
18 hours in the heat
My dessicated soul is torn
Without you I am incomplete
Without you I can only mourn

I can't go on, I can't go on
I'm crying now, I'm dying now

Eucalyptus melancholy
Toxic leaves ever befall me
Try to climb from shadowed valley
Death is near, I live for folly
Eucalyptus melancholy

[20 minutes of dramatic instrumental interlude]

I am not a vicious drop bear
I am a lover bleeding in despair
Why don't you care? Why don't you care?
Life is unfair, life is unfair!

Eucalyptus melancholy
Toxic leaves like dying holly
Walk with me through shadowed valley
Death is near, I live for folly

Eucalyptus melancholy
I dream of you, you still enthrall me
Weep with me in shadowed valley
Death is here, I die for folly
Death is here, I die for folly
Death is here, I die

Eucalyptus melancholy
Eucalyptus melancholy

Thank you. I thought about including the band name on the drum, but I wanted to make sure as much was implied as possible. I think it gives people a feeling of ownership when they look at it and are able to figure it out themselves.

Also, I think it's less likely to get rejected if I keep everything implied!
