binkdrop wrote:Everyone knows The Next Generation is far superior to the original series. :d I wonder though why Uhura doesn't have black hair as a pig, unless it was a reference to Ms.Piggy instead with the blonde hair? And who is on the left? I can't remember who - if anyone - has glasses in the series. Not Bones, but the pig is in blue...so...who?

Anyways nice work! Can't say I'd wear it though because I don't really like the original series, and thus can't support it through my apparel. I do like the idea though, so you get props for a humorous design. :D

She fashioned them after the 3 pigs used in the Muppet Show segment 'Pigs in Space' (but put them in Star Trek clothing).
The one with the balding head is the doctor: Dr. Strange Pork
The middle one is the captain: Captain Link Hogthrob
And the female is none other than: 1st Mate Miss Piggy.

Re: Xenoproboscizoid

Pretty neat. GMV
BTW, I admit to not totally understanding the shirt, but as to what it has to do with space, I have a clue: Xeno is greek for stranger. In our culture, it is most commonly used in the word xenophobia, meaning fear of aliens...in the ufo sense.
And scizoid seems to be derived from schizoid...
So is this a schizophrenic alien?
Lol..that sounds funny..
Anyway, the design is great. I might even buy it. :D

1. Just because they're not pulled yet doesn't mean they WON'T be pulled. The rejectionator isn't sitting at the computer at all hours, browsing every single design. And just because something survives a wave of rejections doesn't mean it won't go down in the next one.

2. Just because they feature ships from star wars/trek doesn't mean they aren't parodies. This one definitely was not a parody; the others may be arguable. The rejectionator and/or Woot's lawyers may have decided that they can safely print it, should it make top 3.

3. Even if they SHOULD be rejected but aren't, it doesn't mean Woot randomly chose to let them pass. Maybe they just never noticed it. If you think something should be rejected, report it and move on.

Re: The Universe Continues

Even the close ups are zoomed out quite a bit but here's a...
Closer View:

Astronauts? Aliens? Planets?... I took this in a different direction. Some will just say "I don't get it" but hopefully follow it up with "...but it looks awesome".

The basic idea is that there's usually always something to take over. Whether it's children becoming the new parents, one species ruling the planet after another, or Janitor Joe taking over when you clock out of work.

I didn't really start with an idea. I just started drawing and it slowly evolved so interpret it however you like. I ran with this SciFi idea that some being creates the expanding universe, but like all things at some point it dies. The creature dies and breaks into pieces becoming new asteroids and such and the power is passed onto the next being who flies endlessly creating new stars etc.... or you know, maybe its just some space ghosts changing a light bulb. That's up to you to decide. :P

Q: How many space ghosts does it take to change a light bulb?

A: Space ghosts can't change light bulbs, silly! Ghosts don't have a corporeal form and thus their hands will pass right through the bulb!

A2: If there is a nearby power source (e.g. an exploding star or a planet full of life from which the energy can be harvested a la Goku's 10-episode-charging spirit bomb), two space ghosts could use their space ghost alchemical powers to transmute (read: change) the lightbulb into, I don't know, gold or something.

+100000000

I thought this derby theme really had potential and yet I find the vast vast majority of entries to be quite disappointing. So many of them are boring and/or cutesy.

Jestik wrote:

I think this definitely goes along with the outer space theme. The picture looks like it is right out of some science fiction novel. As LinkinPrime pointed out, it is not even clear if it is an alien or spaceship (or alien symbol) but that makes the design even better. It really has a mysterious and disturbing quality to it. For some reason, the symbol makes me think of something like the Derelict Ship with the Space Jockey in the original Alien film.

What I'm not understanding is why some submissions - like Boots, or Drakxxx's in the steampunk derby get rejected right off with no warning or explanation, for not having the exact woot template or color, but this one just has a note of "would you be a dear and download the new color?"

um....isn't this the same issue as Boots, Drakxxx, and others???

why isn't this one getting rejected?

just curious is all

While I'm not arguing for or against either side here, I think that the rationale behind leaving this design and rejecting the others is that the displayed color in this case is actually taken from woot's template page, while the others were not. So while this one may not show the correct texture, it technically is the "color" of heather gray that woot has published, even if does not accurately depict the shirt. Unfortunately, because of this technicality (assuming woot doesn't plan to reject this), I feel that the design looks much better than it will when its texture competes with that of the shirt. As it is now, the shirt color looks like silver (a color I wish woot would offer).

They are the symbols for each planet, with the sun and moon as bookends! A very creative, and yet surprisingly simple, design! I especially like how you scaled the symbols based on the corresponding planes' sizes.
