I guess I pushed it over the line a little when I re-did the tattoos, but like I said I was getting some feedback that indicated people weren't feeling like they could relate to such a bold design, not to mention such an abstract tattoo. I changed it, for better or worse, because I thought I should adhere to the whims of the woot community for once.
I'm unbelievably new to making shirt designs; I usually just do illustrations, so I'm still working on learning to create wearable designs. And besides, even though it does seem like a rather feminine shirt now, I guess I thought guys might still be interested because it does have a chick on the front. And if not, then I'm sure there are plenty of girls whom they can buy this shirt for, or plenty of girls who might like this design. Originally though my whole idea was to have a little edginess in it, but I guess that sort of got lost with the tattoo change.
It's just rather difficult to come up with designs that this community here likes. Some days they like cute stuff, some days they are abhorred by it. Other days it's "yayy abstract - love that", and then of course the next it's, "uggggh I hate everything on woot".
Thanks though hananoheiwa for taking the time to write your comments. I want to really hear how people view the designs, especially if I end up changing them as drastically as this one, so thank you for sharing your thoughts!
