Perhaps, it should be mandated to receive the print ready file within 24 hours of submission; or automatic rejection. It just seems like this is such an odd thing to not have it sent in relative close to the sub, I mean, this image is what you make your comp from, right?

I would comply with a 24 hour mandated print ready receipt rule. It's not a big deal to e-mail it in after I've submitted my design and detail image to the composition; it's just far too large to submit it within the form on the site. I usually end up not e-mailing them in now, however, because it seems like if everyone who lost the derbies e-mailed their print ready in, that's a lot of files that need to be discarded later. If woot prefers that everyone do this though, and they're willing to sift through all the print ready files, I'd be fine with it.

Oh that's always a bummer when you forget to find a color, and it's one over the limit. I've had trouble sorting out my colors when I decide to change a lot of stuff, and it's always irritating. Hope you rack up the votes again - the kitties totally reminded me of Lady and the Tramp.

Not a fan of the style, but until people stop voting for it, nothing will change. I wouldn't expect Ramy to change what is obviously working so well. I think Ramy could be equally successful working in some of the other styles he has shown us. Bottom line, until it stops getting gobs of votes, the bunnies will continue. It only makes sense. As much as I'd like to pretend that I am all high and mighty and the art comes first, I'd be doing whatever I could to keep cashing $1000 checks if its getting the votes. It just so happens that my style isn't terribly popular. ;)

simontsui wrote:I've read the comments in this thread. The shirt designer has responded multiple times in an immature fashion. I'm sure this shirt/thread will generate a lot of strong words and heated arguments.

Personally, I find the shirt extremely offensive. Imagine if a female family member of yours, or your girlfriend, your wife or your female friend was wearing this shirt and got groped? This shirt actually encourages the wrong behavior.

Really?? First, the designer was just defending his design from Woot trolls like Adder.

Second, your comment about encouraging the wrong behavior. Really? Imagine if you're wearing Drakxxx's shirt with a severed head to a crime scene where somebody was chopped to pieces or imagine wearing the milk and cookies shirt to a lactose intolerance conferance. The world's a cruel place. Stuff happens all the time. I seriously doubt a shirt design would influence any of this. If something is gonna happen, it's gonna happen regardless of what shirt the victim is wearing.

mcosgrove wrote:um...can someone explain how this has anything to do with the theme? Is it because there are 2 rabbits? Or because the title has "to" in it? Either way, those are pretty weak when I see there have been some clever submissions rejected for theme (right to arm bears). I am not saying I would vote for this, but it does have a connection to the theme (second amendment).

On another note, it is clear that this site is dominated by the same people who love pictures of cats wearing people clothes and collect odd things, because that is what these bunny shirts are, collectors items for people with bunny obsessions. I am not blaming ramy for trying to turn a buck, i am worried that woot is losing its core audience who would buy its stuff off the main woot page. Last I checked, my mom and her friends, who might love this shirt, do not buy big screen tvs or any computer accessory online.

Good and evil, heaven and hell, devils and angels, id and superego. I'd say dichotomy is on theme for a "two" derby, though this is hardly the more clever way of executing such an idea.

Why the heck am I agreeing with Adder?

But yes, I love this shirt The design is really clever, and well drawn. It's the only one in the derby that I would buy instantly if it won. I'd get two, actually, since my roommate was gushing over the design too when I showed it to her.

In every derby I've followed so far, there is exactly one shirt that I would actually wear, and none of them have yet won. I was hoping for this one given how much shirt.wooters love the cute, but to no avail.

I'm an older dude and I buy these shirts for myself and would buy this one if it won. (No not a lonely virgin, I am married without children).

I think if you guys are so upset that cutesy shirts are winning so much why don't you either A. build your own shirt printing company and print what you want or B. introduce woot to more people like yourself and get them to buy a shirt so they can vote for what you think should win.

As for the bunnies, I must say that while I like them I do think the artist should branch out. Maybe other animals such as raccoons or polar bears or something else completely like robots in this style. (See what I did there, that was called constructive criticism, it's more helpful to the artist than slander and saying how much you hate them).

That being said, I do have to agree with the policy that if it ain't broke don't fix it. If the shirts win why should he change what he is doing?

I decided to give my characters a lot of expression - so that they wouldn't just be a carton of milk and a cookie. I wanted it to really look like they were best friends. Heck, they're even skipping together!

I guess what I'm saying is that there are a lot of people on here with peas in a pod, but everyone has approached it from their own angle.

Thanks for the link though! I had not seen that before, and it was certainly unintentional.

ProfHotpants wrote:Seriously, I think this is cool artwork, and I wish it were printable. Unfortunately, I didn't get the print-ready art till this morning, so that's the reason for the late rejection.

Believe it or not, I can't really tell whether or not something is going to be printable from the 580px by 580px shirt comp image. If everyone submitted their print-ready art at the time of the initial submission, there wouldn't have to be late rejections like this.

If print-ready art were submitted earlier, the artist would also have a better chance of resubmitting art that does comply with our Design Guidelines (they're right there on the Derby submission page). I think it would really be a win-win situation.
