I think his sleeve is rolled over once. So? I just looked and one of my shirt sleeves is rolled over once too. Sometimes when they come out of the dryer they're like that and who has time to put it back down?

Didn't realize it was just rolled over once. It's fairly common for girls and just looks odd to me on guys, but it was primarily a very bad joke that I guess just didn't come across playfully in text.

freiz wrote:Hey, Kathnich, thanks for the comments! I'll consider your suggestion for an alternate version, but for myself in making this I did like the juxtaposition of Siamese "twin" cats and two birds...I suppose I was going for a double pun (and the twos multiply as I speak...). And I apologize if this turned you off (and apparently a few others), but honestly, I think there have been far worse (and more graphic) on Shirt Woot than two birds under a rock.

So, is there a more tasteful way of depicting two birds under a stone or is the pun just resented in general?

I think it's the mixture. The cats make me think of the ones who sing the "we are siamese if you please" song in lady and the tramp, which is cool - and goes with my general experience of Siamese cats. And I could see "two birds with one stone" working for this derby in some other form. But yeah, cats don't use stones. Maybe just a few feathers floating around after the birds got eaten...? Though I still think an evil plot in the hatching would be great!

This is by far the best entry I've seen in a long long time.

Re: Duality

I really really love the wings! It is beautiful, my only complaint is her eyes. The style looks like it uses big eyes anyway, but in the sketch, her eyes looked more gentle, not scared wide-eyes. I also picture her with a possibly mischievous smile.

Pirate... Ninja... Two enemies.

I was thinking about adding a little more to thin one... nunchucks, sword, etc. Any comments... is this design worth the extra time?

I always try to take business advice from people who expressly state they have no interest in my product, don't you? Yup, people who have no interest in church - that is my target market.

Besides, who says one must wear the shirt at church? You think just because I work at church, I don't do other things? You sound like Ralph Wiggam describing Principal Skinner.

Why don't you go worry about the children or something and let the adults talk?

Okay, that makes sense.
You'll have to excuse my outburst then. Im just trying to defend my design like anyone else would. I was just trying to make a point that there are a lot of good shirt designs that are not directly related to the theme, but can be if you look into it. I thought I was being clever by using "too" instead of "two". Hopefully a better theme will come up where I can use this, because who's to say it would look good on a shirt?

okay that what i was thinking!
but i'm pretty sure woot meant numerical 2 unfortunately.

This is cute and i definitely agree with you on unrelated submissions, but i'm pretty sure woot has a no direct resubmission rule, so if you've made a design you like, save it until you know it fits the derby pretty well because then you can't use it again :[

What I was saying, is that I would expect a "servant of the Lord" to have a bit more tact. That's fine though - hypocrisy runs rampant within religion, so I guess it just fits that at church you'd be a disciplined and well mannered individual but in your "outside activities" you'd be a sleazeball.

I have nothing wrong with the shirt. I wouldn't wear it, but I understand it as a joke shirt. What I had a problem with is the idea that someone who openly professes their association with the clergy is endorsing such raunchy humor, which many people could very well take offense to, especially considering your professional position.

And I thought the Christian way was to be kind and "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". So...I guess what you're saying is you wanted me to respond to you with a snarky comment, since that seems to be all you're putting out.

If you re-enter it now or later for whatever reason, you should know that Woot can't print gradients (like the bomb's shadow) so you'd have to change that or it would be rejected. You could make it a solid color or a halftone pattern or something like that, but the gradients won't work.

Thanks guys

@jewelwing: Cheers jewelwing, it was tough incorporating the panda. The design also works well on a white T, but we all know how popular that color is here at woot. I'm glad you still like it.

Okay, good call.
So If I change it up a little I can still re-submit it into a more fitting derby?

You couldn't be more right. I just don't get the appeal. Plus, it's not even printable. I just will never understand why there's so much hate on ramy and so much love towards an unprintable warcraft shirt.

as I said elsewhere: the warcraft art shirt required skill to create, even if it is pretty ugly and likely unprintable. Ramy couldn't find skill if he was handed the "skate - slap" page out of a dictionary

I did! Thanks for the suggestion. Yes... there are a lot of peas. They are all pretty similar to the plethora of peas in a pod tees (which is why I changed mine up a bit).... Re: Just the two of us

I wish I knew why I should be excited about the design or the concept. I mean, I respect the fact that Wooters like it...which is fine and I won't try to put down the system, because unlike some I have zero problem with the way Woot runs.

I just wish I knew why I didn't get it. I don't think it's well drawn. I don't think it's a cool concept that there's two shirts going on.. I don't think any of it's at all neato.. and I wouldn't wear either.

I guess I like the girl shirt a little better, but the other.. just yuck, is all.

Here's an attempt: Hair, here, seems to want to be more swirly, less clumped. Many of the artists spend a great deal of time in the stranding of the hair, while you have economized in colors and composition through the suggestion of body and style.
In fact, a lot of the WOOT designs focus on sinuous lines.
The face is very two-dimensional while attempting to be realistic...again, the practice here seems to be two-dimensional for cartoons, shading for realism.
The mirroring of the image, while giving you two images (and certainly the Queen of Steam has done this and is doing well in the voting) doesn't improve the design or add to its interest; I would focus on the development of a single compelling image.
Hope you find this helpful.
