well i guess what i was trying to say is, if you have the flag down, wouldn't it be possible that the yellow box could be empty? on the flip-side it could also have some "incoming mail"...i guess its 50/50 huh?

btw forgot to tell you that its a great design

While the yellow does look a little flat, it should be remembered that these derby images are compressed RGB conversions of PMS spot colors. It's easily possible the artist had a calibrated color space setup on his system that's causing the colors to appear just slighty off when he made the preview JPEG. This would in no way affect the actual print job. Remember, the printer will pour cans of the true colors into the press - all that's needed is a digital file that can be separated into three press plates. I can't conceive of Woot having any problem with what we're looking at.

Outstanding work, by the way.

When I first thought of this today I wanted to do a full page spread of like 5 frames, but then I realized I didn't have that kind of time. Oh well here's one of them.

I love almost everything about this design. The cartoon is fantastic, all the planning and placement is great. I do have one large critique though.

I feel that your use of orange is poor. Instead of using the orange to have such an overwhelming effect in the background, I think it could have been much better used to highlight the details, as you did in the testubes, mouths, pipes, ect.

In my opinion, placing it in the background really dwarfs the image and takes away from the great design. Also, the way you created an uneven border around the design between the outlines and the orange looks like you were coloring with a marker too big for the small areas.

I'd vote for this design in a heartbeat if the background were more visually pleasing, but as it is right now, I would not want my shirts shipped in it.

very creative and awesome, but eventually there will be a lot more 1st places that won't end up on the bag.. unless woot has you send them a new updated bag template after every few derbys

The posture look more like a bear's than a cat's, and that's what I thought it was in the thumb nail. Great idea though.

Right. I actually created this in my work computer, which has a color profile calibrated slightly differently than a typical computer(I work for a newspaper). That could be it. But this isn't my first rodeo, stargirl. I have the right colors selected from th Pantone book loaded on adobe illustrator.
