What program are you using to save your images? I'd suggest going from the original file (PSD or AI or whatever) and resaving the JPG. As was mentioned, the problem is most likely a corrupted image file. I've seen it happen a few times before (and I think it may have happened to me once or twice somehow).

A program like Irfanview will usually debug that sort of issue, since you can see what the image type is, etc.

As for the .gif images, I can see those fine.

That might be it, actually. People who can see the file are those that have the correct picture-viewing-designing software on their computers, perhaps?

Irfanview is a good solution if you have the file, but when I right-click, it doesn't give me an option to save the picture, it just refers to entry.htm rather than the picture filename that I get when I click on the entries that I can see.

Maybe other designers are doing something to flatten their images before posting so they're creating a more accessible file for people who don't have any drawing software installed.

It's too bad that this isn't getting seen by more people, because you don't really know how well it would be liked. But maybe now's the time to fiddle with the file and see if you can change it so that it does appear. Not that it's going to shoot to the top at this point, but at least you'd know what you need to do for the next derby.

One problem... you wouldn't be taking Calc and Trig cause you need to take Trig in order to take Calc... sooo then people'd think whoever wore this shirt was really smart but then realize that they're not.....

You don't really need trig at the beginning.

I think we used the exact same color green: 5747C. If it prints like yours did I think it will fine:

It won't pop off the shirt, but with a design like this I don't think it necessarily should. It would be nice if woot would give a more accurate template color for olive though.

I find the dark green on "A Wonderful Day" far less visible in person, actually, and it would be more tricky with yours because the lines are thin whereas the buildings in mine were just a large mass. But I do hope it works out because this design is really some amazing art.

While the lines are thinner, they are also mostly surrounded by other colors to frame them with. Hopefully if it does print it will print very nicely. This might be one of those "wait and see" designs. Even if it's subtle I'd be fine with that given the subject matter and tone of the design.

raevynpheather wrote:The only reason this shirt isnt in the fog is because the id10t hardcore woot voters vote on art and not what is wearable.

That has become a real problem with this site and it is why very few derby shirts are selling out anymore. Too many people vote for something that looks great, but no one in their right mind would wear. It may look great on the wall, but it is not something that people will wear.

The funny thing is that most of the shirts that slip through and get printed, that sell out, are the ones that were attacked the hardest on these boards by the hardcore woot feedbackers, like almost all of Ramby's shirts.

Something that may help would be giving you a number of votes equal to the number of shirts that you have purchased, and allowing you to vote more than once for a shirt with those votes. That way those that actually purchase shirts (more than one) have more influence on what gets printed, which will result in more sales.

If they implemented that system, I would put 10-20 votes on this shirt, because it is one of only about 5 or 6 shirts in the derby that are wearable, and not wall art.

I only vote for shirts that I would buy if they won. Not that I "might" buy, but ones that I would absolutely order if they became available. I don't place many votes, because there aren't that many shirts that I must own. Later, I might buy one I didn't vote for, but I only vote for the ones I'd buy for sure.

My criteria is that the shirt has to have some sort of artistic merit, as defined by me. I also have to want to wear the design. I can appreciate the work that goes into something, and I can have the "oooh pretty" reaction, but still not want to wear a particular design. This isn't the designer's fault, it's just that some topics/designs aren't relevant to me, so no matter how well-designed or pretty, I'm not going to buy it.

Wearability is also a factor. That includes color choice. A design would have to be spectacular for me to buy it if the shirt color is one that will make me look like I need a transfusion. If it is that great, I might buy it to frame it, but I suspect that's not going to happen too many times. Placement is also an issue. In the end, a tee shirt is a piece of clothing, not a print on a flat wall. I have to consider how a tee shirt is going to look on me. Which may not be the same as it's going to look on you.

As far as the file format goes... That's what I did for the image shack files where I put 3 of them together.

I can't edit my entry can I? So that I CAN have a thumbnail and shirt comp? It would be nice.

Well... *GEE*... thanks for the vote of confidence. Actually, I'll just put the main focus on "at this point". :P

Just kidding of course. I've learned a couple things from this derby.

1)Figure out file types / errors
2)Giant ink blobs = bad; Half tones = Better

*shrug* I'll pretend the reason I only have 16 votes is because of the lack of thumbnail.

I greatly appreciate everybody's feedback on my design and help with this issue.

That's how I meant it.

At this late in the process, people are paying a lot more attention the the stuff that's already up at the top, so climbing from the bottom would be difficult for any entry. You do have a chance of getting more votes, though, because people who have been unable to see your work up to this point might be curious if it suddenly showed up as a resub.

I agree with some of your sentiments, but... are you suggesting that all votes be made for sale?

This is a terrible idea. If you want to have a higher benchmark, say, 5 woots before a vote, that's one thing. But you're saying that a small group of people should be allowed to control a large portion of the vote based on their purchasing. That's ridiculous. You can't equate voting "quality" with purchase quantity anymore than you can relate shirt quality with vote quantity.

Not to mention this plan would surely backfire on you anyway. Would you like it if all the bunny/chibi shirts sold outnumbered the wearable ones and you were forced off the island on a different site? You most assuredly would be outnumbered votewise, in any case.

A solution is out there... that's why many critics are still here. It's a flag worth flying, but certainly not on a pay to play basis.

The guys at the new SONIC drive-in told me to have a supersonic day. And I did!

I thought the trojan horse was actually a good guess. I believe someone else guessed Pegasus, which was another good one. Lots of people guessed Nero and quite a few also guessed Bloody Mary (Queen Mary), which definitely could've worked, but I had Elizabeth Bathory in mind. :p

When I started this design I actually didn't know who Caligula was. My boyfriend came up with the idea to add him in there, and he sounds like he was a really odd dude back in the day. Many people that guessed didn't initially get the connection between the roman guy and the horse (that they were together), and thought they were two totally separate and unrelated characters. I was surprised to see that many who participated are quite good with their history though! I didn't know if I would have been able to guess all of them correctly if I didn't know who they were already. :p
