I like the navy without the sad emoticon and would definately vote and buy.

I've just spent the last several evenings reading this book to my son over and over with special voices. My throat hurts. I'd vote for this.

I'm jealous, I only derby when I drink, and I only drink when I derby. I mean, when I don't derby I don't know what to do with my hands.

Uh, anyway, vote for this thing:

I just saw the part about having to export each color on a seperate layer. Any easy way to do that in Illustrator?

I think you only need to separate layers for photoshop files, not illustrator.

A question....
I searched but couldn't find a solid answer, and I don't have any navy shirts. I am wondering if back ink shows up on navy or are they too tonally close?

Can someone please explain why anything in the fog is considered blue? I feel like we should be seeing an EPIC REJECTION FIT on Tuesday.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but the rules only state the design is on one of the three prescribed shirt colors... all four meet that criterion. Of course, the SPIRIT of the derby might have been to do a "blue" themed shirt, but that ain't stated. Loopholes are a bear...

the blue shirt requirement comes after the thematic explanation. Ergo theme need be met.

Just my preference, but you should add a moon. OH, but then you're stuck with "Blue Moon". Maybe a cloud then, but the upper-left seems naked.

Gorgeous. Small question- is this done all in Photoshop? Because i'm just not getting this level of shading control on Illustrator, and have been thinking of switching over since AI is such a bear in trying to draw subtle details without constantly removing lines near where you want to place new ones...

Thanks Skek! I usually do the line art in Macromedia Flash since it allows me to re-size it without distorting quality. I then do all the coloring in Photoshop after I decide on a size for the lines and import them. I have absolutely no idea how to use Illustrator as I've never had the opportunity to piddle around with the program much, but I think just because of the way I draw Photoshop and flash are easier for me to wrap my head around. :p

The CS4 Photoshop has this new feature called Smart Objects which lets you scale stuff non-destructively. I, too, have used Flash in the past, and I think Flash and Illustrator share lots of common tools, so it maybe not be much of a jump for you if you switched over. And yes, Photoshop is a beast when it comes to coloring! Also new in CS4 is the ability to rotate your canvas! I just wish Illustrator had this feature also.

(I think I sounded like a spokesperson for Adobe CS4 )

I have CS2 on my PC and CS3 on my mac (school gets CS3 as part of the network shared programs). That's always fun as the CS3 stuff can't be opened correctly in 2, but they don't exactly throw around CS3 licenses for home computers .

The bulk of my stuff is in Illustrator because I'm so familiar with the tools. Photoshop, I can't even get my head around the dang paths. But if I want shading, I gotta break out the slice tool and chop pieces off the shape to recolor.

Thanks for the suggestion of Flash though, I never thought of that.

I, too, do most of my stuff in Illustrator, but been doing lots of Photoshop painting recently. There is indeed a big jump from AI to PS. Like it's a whole new monster to conquer. Well, that's how I felt when started using PS. The techniques I use are very different for each program. Like in AI, most of the time I use the White Arrow tool, but hardly ever in PS. Likewise in PS with the Lasso tool, hardly used in AI. I have always wondered if they'll ever combine the two, turn it into the best raster/vector program out there, and call it Photostrator! Hahah.

I always use the paintbrush and just draw away. Never even learned how to use the pen tool because I think it creates dots on the line you draw and I don't understand how to manipulate that stuff. All that slicing and manipulating lines in Illustrator sounds like it would be irritating. :p

And were you talking about Content Aware Scaling in PS4? I watched a video on that - seems to be pretty awesome for manipulating photos and such, but I doubt it would work for super large scaling needs. Still a very sophisticated new gizmo that seems really neat.

So, I'm not about to argue that sekiyoku's shirt should be reinstated, because it shouldn't. It was correctly rejected because it is a just a bird which is blue. It could have been a pig that was blue. In fact, I think sekiyoku should be banned permanently for the sheer ugliness of her entire portfolio. But her "PICTURE" being rejected makes me have to ask: Where is the blue in half the rest of the fog? Robbie and Ramy have at least a tenuous grasp on said theme (though I'd say the latter could easily be rejected for horrible halftoning). truffle and kdeuce, not so much. Boots' piece in 5th? also not so much. It was a correct rejection, but there needs to be more by virtue of that one.

Pen Tool is a godsend for mouse users! Heheh.

That Content Aware Scaling is one new nifty trick alright. I think it's more for photographers, maybe some creative genius can find some use for it in shirt designs. But the one I'm talking about are Smart Objects. Really cool feature. The guy said in the video that it has been around since CS2! Fancy that.
