re: why so gloomy, little sad sack?

Awesome!

Thanks guys for the comments and votes! It is greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I see him as a flour sack. Maybe he is related to a pillow. I do think it is funny that he has little dog or pig ears. The belly button was an after thought.

My Mom used to read Sad Sack comics when she was a kid, so I am sure that is where she got it.

Once again, thanks for the support!

On a side note : My band played a great show in Raleigh, NC tonight. It is now 3:11am and I am going to bed.

Thanks guys.

Instead of underwear - maybe scales to play up her mermaid qualities (they can be shades of blue and green). Then you can keep the green water swirls and fish since it will be clear that they are just green water swirls and fish. Just a suggestion.

binkdrop wrote:This shirt is overwhelmingly sad, which is surprising considering it's cute at the same time. I keep looking at it, and a small part in my brain is screaming, "They're so cute" while another part is just becoming depressed. I think it makes an interesting shirt and I can't believe there isn't one that is smiling! The shapes are pretty neat and diverse too.

haha I will make sure ONE is smiling - no need to worry

Re: Blue Orchid

For some reason, the swirls on and around the bird remind me of the PS2 game Ōkami. I have the same criticism about the foreground being far more attractive than the background. Wish they complemented each other better. Whatever that means. However that could be done.

Re: Depressed? Have a Cupcake.

I think one thing that would have made it better would be to make the left arrow go down then suddenly curve right, and the right arrow go right and then suddenly curve up, better emphasizing the process.

That is valid point mister! I say simplicity is perfection at its best! and I don't think a shirt can be simpler than this... err, I meant more perfect than this! (while sticking to the blue theme) I say give me my I'd want one button cuz you clearly got my vote!

I like the colors, especially that shade of green on the navy. We're you thinking about making the blue more vibrant? That might look ok too. Really nice textures and really pretty illo, Marz.

Using the programs can be tough at first, but once you get the basic stuff down, it isn't too bad. Check out the links below for some rules and tips.

I tried that first...I just couldn't get it to look like it flowed with the design that way. Plus I kinda like the minimalistic arrows and smileys in contrast with the more realistic cupcake. : )

I certainly hope the arrows are legal, seems like I've seen arrow designs before not get rejected (as if that means anything). But, like another user said, they aren't something that can be typed w/ a keyboard...so... *crosses fingers*

I can see you got a good grasp on making characters though, as your monsters facial expression is definitely amusing. It might also look better without the weapons, and if you made all the eyes dropping a little tear.

So, if you are going to say that this shirt is a playoff of another shirt, post proof instead of blatantly saying something. :D
