Re: Playing Blues
This is what we get when woot refuses to man up.
I LOVE this one! Nice colors - nice flow. Very wearable.
xxchange wrote:That outline isn't really on the shirt, right? And also I think the design is a little small.
The outline is from the shirt.woot basic psd file, not in the print version. I did go for a small, classic chest stamp design...thingy. Trust me, it is small enough and not too small ;) Thanks everyone for the votes and comments so far
Re: Blue Orchid
I love everything about this shirt. The design is the most beautiful I have seen. I would love, love, love to get this shirt. Great job.
Re: 159 Sad Shapes
Cute. How'd you come up with all the shapes?
Re: Blueberry Splash
Very, very cool design. I love it! Gmv
Neat!
AdderXYU wrote:At the end of the day, though, there is only one concern, to me. A good shirt should be printing every day. Not a shirt I want. Not a shirt that will sell out. Not a shirt in a certain style. A good shirt. So to me, woot needs to work one of two ways. They need to screw the idea of theme and print shirts that deserve a print, which would keep this one safe, or they need to be strict across the board, meaning they have a lot of rejecting to do, and from way high up. At the end of the day, though, I would rather have three well-done shirts that are off topic win than even one horrible one on topic. I would prefer, of course, that it be three shirts that are all ON topic, without a doubt, but there are so many shirts which have printed without being remotely on theme and without being even remotely wearable that I really cannot begrudge the occasional good shirt from printing ahead of the normal baloney. Woot either needs to be consistent and brutal across the board, or they need to stop only hunting down good shirts for the inquisition. Because there are always horrible shirts that are just as tenuous. And if there must be a double standard (which woot has proven there apparently must be, given all their horrible judgment calls over the years), I'd love to see someone like Drakxxx be the one to benefit, instead of always being Ramiyoku or other truly untalented design weasels.
I for once completely agree with everything you said. this must be a different universe.
absolutely beautiful, i would definitely buy it
Re: Blue Skies
I adore your designs
Re: Riding the Cosine Wave (2)
Don't like the color you see? Then go find yourself another one! Thanks for all the continued support!

Here it is: http://shirt.woot.com/derby/Entry.aspx?id=25231 Seems different enough to me, but I'll let you guys decide.
Re: Earth Juice
Wow, the earth looks so juicy - great design!
If Woot clearly and consistently enforced the rules, the good artists would be able to adapt to the theme and whatever other rules are given.
Re: A Clue?
GMV! I like humor on my tees, and this made me laugh as soon as I saw the full image.
HalfWheat wrote:If Woot clearly and consistently enforced the rules, the good artists would be able to adapt to the theme and whatever other rules are given.
And they can and generally do. Not that that has ever helped them print over the people who don't.
Whoops, screwed up my URL tag. Let's try that again. @Adder: Well, can't please everyone. Thanks for the insightful comment, though!
The flower is, uh... reminiscent of Georgia O'Keeffe's...
Re: Sun Blues
I'm not quite sure what draws me to this, but it's GMV anyway. Good luck.
I like the bird but not the flower. It would be great on a red, orange, or white shirt.
Re: Mucha Ado About Nothing.
Very pretty Bink. I get a very nice Alphonse Mucha vibe from your illustration, which always works for me! Please have my vote.
Props to my boyfriend for coming up with the clever title. I had a friend once who really loved the artwork by Mucha so I decided that I'd do a piece in the same sort of style that he's known for. I didn't do the hair as he does his, but I did incorporate the geometric designs, and I tried to add a bit of a twist by combining some grunge with clean lines. My design is more specifically based off of this piece by Mucha. Now for the minigame! The first person to private message me the correct product names of all 10 products - IN ORDER - provided in the picture below gets this little guy, Benny the Whale. Yes, he is indeed a blue whale. If you had trouble figuring that out, that's because he's the first whale I've ever made and I didn't really go off a pattern. Plus I'm still new at crocheting. If you win I WILL need your mailing address, so be sure to check your private messages please. And here is the reference sheet for the products. I hope you guys have a hard time with them. I really, really do..for my sake. Benny took a long time to make.

First post stealer! :p I was busy typing up my first post and I saw you recognized the Mucha reference. : ) I had a friend who liked his work a lot so I thought I'd try something different and go with utilizing a bit of his style. Thanks for the compliment!

Ah, sorry about the first comment... I was hoping your game this week would be to indentify what style your illustration was influenced by, so I got excited and jumped the gun. The style is very strong, and you've done a great job with it. Best of luck!
Re: I ate Blueberry Pie
You will have to resub again - numerals are considered text (generally, if it appears on a keyboard - it's considered text) and depending on how picky Woot is feeling, the pi symbol may also be considered text. Or just keep what you have and cross your fingers...

Thank you everyone. I enjoyed making this.
No text in this derby. 8 is text for sure. The pi symbol might or might not be considered text, depending on what Woot decides.
Re: Depressed? Have a Cupcake.
I really want this shirt.
Re: Blue Green
Now that I see this on another monitor I'm realizing this isn't as blue as I thought(I'd meant to give the illusion of blue taking over green..). I'll let you guys tear it apart before I take it down.
Wow - on the one hand, I think the illustration is beautifully done. Love her hair. But the placement of the fish and the green swirls (water?) is questionable. Not sure if it will withstand scrutiny because of this placement. We'll see...
Re: Blue Cheese?
PUNS ARE AWESOME (not). ...I think I'm hating myself a little for doing such a terrible pun v_v Anyways, I like mice, so yea. I like hamsters more though :3
I like her swirly hair. It seems you and I were on the same page this week as far as big, curly hair goes. It does look rather green on my monitor as well, though I do see blues as well. The green seems more prominent to me though. Nice drawing though - you did a nice job with her pose and she looks relaxed rather than crazy stiff, which is what happens sometimes when I try to draw people. :p
Re: Blue Moon
It's nice...but I'm noticing in washing my other shirts...all these small details end up wearing off pretty quickly. (This is really noticeable on the "phosphor dots" of Music Pirate.) So...eventually, this shirt will be missing a major part of itself. It's a pretty design, though. Doesn't look like "SSDD" to me. It looks like you're branching out from what "you usually do". (Which, ya know, as someone who owns some of those, I like, btw.)

Re: Waves Resub
This is not a Woot template nor a Woot color - candidate for rejection. If you need the correct template - after you have clicked the "Submit a derby entry" link - look to the left side of the page and download the official shirt templates Woot uses. You might as well do it now if you intend on entering derbies in the future.

Thanks your cloud one is cool, blueberries don't look good on me though
Re: Blue Oxygen
Details about why Oxygen is so blue: In its natural form, Oxygen is radical: a di-radical, to be precise. This makes Oxygen blue, and sometimes explosive. If you like Oxygen, chemistry, electron energy diagrams, etc., perhaps you would consider voting for this shirt.
Re: B is for.....
It took me about a minute to figure out that was a Banana. So I don't know... Since I have a million Batman shirts, most people would assume I was wearing a "Bat Bomb" shirt and assume the banana was an action line for it.
frolanda wrote:how is it rejected, it doesnt say it?
Did you read the rules? It hasn't been rejected yet but it will be. The rules for this derby clearly state: "Your design must appear on a Baby Blue, Royal Blue, or Navy Blue shirt. You may use any ink colors you like as long as the shirt is one of these three colors."
Re: crustacyanin
i agree with adder, i'm just a bit worried about how it would print, but just like him, i didn't care enough not to vote for it. i like how its nice and different and while blue, is't the kind of blue topic most would think of.
