I agree. While I think this is a cool design I also think it's pushing the boundaries of the "blues" theme. For once I agree with Adder that woot needs to be more consistent with it's rejections. The flora theme people pushed that theme as well and Ramyb's tree won when I think it should have been rejected as with many others in that derby.

People are not sticking to the theme very much at all in this derby and taking advantage. Woot needs to stick to it's own rules and reject things off topic. They shouldn't just print shirts in a derby because it's a great shirt and off topic, that is bending the rules as well Adder, one of the things you hate. Why should an artist get their great design printed if they can't follow the simple rules of the derby? If a client asks for a yellow bird and a designer makes a green cat, it doesn't matter how great that cat looks, it's not what was asked of them.

And not that it matters...but as a disclaimer, I'll notate that I would like it as large as possible and also if you want to shift the printable area to the side some more that would be fine too!

At this point I expect every damn Drakxxx entry to start off in the fog, get knocked out by lesser designs, and spend the rest of the derby going back and forth, in and out of the fog, as if mocking us.

I don't post much, and have no interest in going round and round with anyone. I am merely stating my views as to why this shirt is "blue" in more than just the sense of the color of the fabric.

It's all in the girl. When I look at her I don't see a happy person. She's completely alone (save her monkey), and must call the dead to come play with her. Although she smiles, very softly as if she's putting that smile on for a show, her eyes are closed and down turned. To me this tells me that's she not actually happy, but attempting to hide a deep melancholy. While she's content with the Dead and a Monkey as her friends, I think she's sad and longing for more. But yet, she's resigned to the fact that these are her friends, so she'll play music for them so they may dance and have a good time.

I realize that this may not have been the intent at all. I realize that most people won't and haven't given this shirt that much thought. And that's ok. I still find this to be one of the best "blue" shirts out there because it expresses a deep, yet hidden, melancholy which is very expertly revealed through subtle clues.

For example, this design, while pretty, instantly reminded of a couple of ramyb designs (Defrost and The Open Sea, which happen to be designs I quite like).

your sarcasm has been noted, I draw out my Ideas by hand, then I scan them in and transfer them to Illustrator and I can show you my sketches if you wish, I work In illustrator with the freeform pen and shape tools.

I don't even see a Defrost in this at all... where do you see it?

The closest thing I remember that this even closely comes by is that derby where sekiyoku had a girl in the middle of the ocean on a rock with a red heart by her side?? I don't remember exactly but that's the only thing that comes to mind that remotely resembles this design. That connection is vague at the very most, though.

I like all this glowy-ness. Thanks for changing up your style. =D

Some days you really do want to silence those overly cheerful chirpy people. Sledgehammer sounds just about right. Actually, I have a meeting where this shirt would have 99 percent of the people nodding in agreement and one completely clueless. So perfect.
