When it comes to subs for tee comps like this, I'm forever getting it wrong, as to what will please the majority of wooterholics. I'd agree that off-centre would've been nice but then, I only entered this for a larf, as it was my first sub, or so I thought, that had a bit of a chance. As it turns out, I was wrong again..;]

I have three in too, all of which I'm really happy have done so well.In the fog I have The Binge, then Earth Juice (so close to the fog) and Cloudy... chance of rain.

Welcome! That's a long time to lurk. I hope to see more designs from you.

I'm not sweating it. It's definitely a huge departure from my normal style and subject matter, plus it's doing well, plus it's a reference to pop culture, so it does feel a bit pander-ish.

oh man, all this excitement with a lot of the people in front of me getting rejected and I still don't think I have a chance of printing. Ah well, it's always a blast making it up to the fog anyway. Thanks again to everyone who supported my design with their votes and awesome compliments!!

Honestly I don't think it feels that pander-ish. Has anyone ever done a Blues Clues shirt here? It's not like there's a huge Blues Clues demographic pining for more and more Blues Clues every week. If that were the case then I'd definitely call it a pander. IMO a pop culture reference only equals pandering when it's a very popular, very overdone reference.

Thanks- I'm not saying it WAS pandering, just that it's got that vibe to it. If it WAS pandering, I would have made the clues identify Mario as the assassin and the cops would have had anime eyes. ^_^

Then you should be saying the same thing about every artist here.

Because for the most part, they all have similar designs each week.

most entries don't really relate to blue...
I had a cool illustration this week. But as I was finihsing, I too, realized that it wasn't really on topic, except for the use of the color, blue.
How do they decide which one relate and which ones don't. I can't really make sense of it all...

Sure, but ramyb is the topic of this discussion. To see no similarities in ramyb, or any of the (in)frequent submitters is silly, because yes most people do have a style that they coin in some way or another. Little bits often show through in everyone's work.

I am not denying the fact that Ramyb does have similarities in all this work.

The point that irks me is that just making a case against Ramyb about his work is not what it should be.

If you are going to make a case against one artist that has similarities, make a case again all the artists that do that.

Agreed, I would like to see it as a thought bubble. Though there is something to be said for being that guy who just looks at the obnoxiously happy person and tells them flat out they are going to hit them in the head with a sledge hammer.

How about that people are trying to give fair warning that this sort of thing has been rejected in the past, in case the artist wants to change something and resubmit? Not every negative comment is made with malice.

If no one commented about the designs that had text or were on the wrong color shirt, those artists might not have had time to resubmit something suitable.

Thank you very much! I've been wanting to try a diagonal design for some time now, so I'm glad I got to do it.
I'm always flattered when someone says they would like to see my design hanging on their wall, so thank you once again!

I don't think anybody was arguing that there were no similarities, just countering the statement that they ALL look the same. And you are are absolutely right, little bits often do show, some people can't get a grasp on that unfortunately.

Re: Band of Blues

Thanks everyone for the great comments. I was very happy with the way this turned out.

I would have liked to get it in earlier, but I am going out of the state this week for a job interview and didn't have the time earlier to work on it. But I finished it and posted it anyway. I had no illusions of getting a decent amount of votes, but am happy get another best loser award.

This turned out very different from what it started out as. I was going to try to it much more flat and more of a drawn look, but lost my tablet stylus, and so did all the vector work the the traditional way. It certainly took more time, but I like the way it came out.

Thanks!
ZG.

It's arguable that one could know that there is a love for Blue's Clues at least among artists here after the myriad of designs from the mystery derby. That said while many did well, I don't think any of them actually won so who knows?
