Re: Bento Break
When you gotta have bento you gotta have bento.
Re: Mister Roboto
Great idea. I wish it were a little less obscure, though.

Re: Japanese Fighting Fish
Kanji verfication: 侍魚 侍: samurai 魚: fish 侍魚: No meaning but a logical compound. Plausible.
Re: Shouri
Kanji verification: 勝利 勝利: victory
Re: The Samurai and the Sea Dragon
Kanji verification: 侍海龍 侍: samurai 海: ocean 龍: Chinese-type dragon 侍海龍: No meaning. There is no known compound 海龍. Supposing that is ignored, to say "samurai and ocean dragon" it would need to say 侍と海龍.
I'm conflicted on this shirt, it looks amazing and I love the design, but just not digging the kanji. I would wear it if not for the hokey japanese writing, I think the art makes a more powerful statement when it's left to speak for itself.
Big Girl Tokyo rocks! Good luck, I hope it wins!
Re: Plaid Ninja
oh... my eyes! >.<
Re: She Never Sleeps
Kanji verification: 悪魔 悪魔: demon
Re: Dragon Maiden
I started out just sketching in photoshop earlier in the evening and ended up staying up all night to finish this piece. Hope you like how it turned out (and hopefully it'll still look the same when I wake up)

...And Godzilla in the background... I want two :-)
Re: Forget Chopsticks...
Japanese verification: 先割れスプーン これは、新しいお箸です 先割れスプーン: spork これは、新しいお箸です: This is a new chopstick, although it is missing the final 。 at the end to complete the sentence.
Re: Japan Fan
Kanji verification: 日本 日本: Japan
Re: Tokyo Demolition
Japanese verfication: 東京の取り壊し 東京: Tokyo 取り壊し: demolition 東京の取り壊し: demolition of Tokyo
Re: Sumo-oke, sung from the heart
Japanese verification: そして俺は狼のようにお腹がすいています 俺: I, me (male) 狼: wolf お腹: stomach そして俺は狼のようにお腹がすいています: And I'm hungry like a wolf, alhough missing the final 。 to end the sentence.
Japanese verification: どういたしまして どういたしまして: You're welcome (polite), although is missing the final 。 to complete the sentence.
Re: Miso!
Japanese confirmation: みそ みそ: miso
Re: Things from Japan (final sub)
Kanji verification: 自然界, 食べ物, 人, 動物、日本 自然界: nature 食べ物: food 人: people 動物: Incorrect character (first kanji). The intended character is what I've written here, but in the design it is illegible with a major stroke error. If it were correct it would say animals. 日本: Japan
Man I am really not on the ball with this derby- Anyway, this was a sketch that I was working on earlier in the evening and I ended up staying up all night to finish it. I went through a lot of versions of this, so hopefully it'll look the same when I wake up in the morning
databit wrote:Well, Domo Arigato is a very informal statement anyway. I think the formal is Domo Arigato Gu Sai mas (not sure of spelling) But it also depends on the amount of respect you are paying to the person you are thanking so since this was the lowest respect version of the statement, maybe Mr. Roboto was offended and did not want to say "Your welcome."
I'm pretty sure the levels of politeness are more along the lines of Arigatou (least polite) Domo Arigatou (Middle) Domo Arigatou Gozaimasu (most polite) You also have to keep in mind the musical aspect of rythm, the extra syllables may have been left out for a reason.
The perspective on the umbrella seems a little odd, but the colors really pop on the shirt! Overall, I like it.
Re: Nihon!!!
Am I wrong, or is this one hilarious 300 reference?
Nuada wrote:Am I wrong, or is this one hilarious 300 reference?
I forgot to explain, for those who don't know, the Japanese text translates "This is Japan!!!"
Re: Prehistoric Japan
nice detail with the bow in the tiger's hair...lol
Re: Kami of the Earth
This is really nice. I would have loved a nice warm brown for the tree. Either way you GMV.
Re: Super Awesome
Looks like a candy bar brand.
this is really, really good. I'd buy this no question. consider this.....A VOTE!
I think this is a good effort, Ramy. I appreciate the deviation from your normal style. Just not sure about the teal squiggly/wavey tail - it seems too sketchy and rough to me.
very funny! you're really riding the wave of success lately!
Re: Rising Sun Samurai
very light and dreamy. Almost half-tone heaven...
I'm usually your biggest fan... but didn't you submit a dragon shirt that looks JUST LIKE THIS like... a derby or two ago???
Re: Dirty
Soot Gremlins! Dirty dirtys Soot Gremlins. So how many times do I have to wash this shirt to get it clean?
Oh and I like the typically late soot gremlin!
My favorite shirt in the competition so far - I really do hope it wins. Insta-buy for me! Great work Kdeuce!
I like this, but not against the gray. It just seems a bland backdrop to the bright colors.
Re: Spirit of the Mountain Pass
Kanji verification: 美永遠 美: beauty 永遠: eternity; immortality, although the second character is illegible; the bottom part of the right radical is distorted beyond readability; the only reason I knew what it was supposed to be is because the artist said what it meant. 美永遠: No meaning.
Re: Sakura by the cliff
SO pretty. I can't see this one not fogging. GMV.
parrotworks wrote:This is really well done and needs to be back in the fog. GMV
I agree! I'm sorry to see this not in the fog. Needs more votes!
This would be perfect to wear for yoga
Any issues with copyright on this? I hope not. I love My Neighbor Totoro and I'd be in for one of these. GMV.
