Leahbh wrote:funny. It took me a second to figure out it was a train because the ends look like sharks to me. Are both ends of the train the same?

Anyway, I like the little people flying out. It's pretty funny.

Thanks Leahbh. This is the type of train I referenced in the design. It's the bullet train (Shinkansen) in Japan. I'm not positive how the rear of the train looks but I think it is similar to the front. I rode this train when I visited Japan many years ago, it's an awesome ride and experience.

There are plenty of east meets west shirts. It is funny and clever. If the ninja fits the topic, then what's the problem?

Agreed. I can't believe this isn't beating the spork right now. Maybe it's just too creepy for a lot of people out there, but I bet most of those people know someone that would like this shirt... Halloween is coming up soon, and Christmas is right around the corner! GIFTS, PEOPLE!

P.S. No offense to the spork guys or anything. I just really want this one

I don't see how this fits the theme "Japan." It's a spork with Japanese writing, but it doesn't fit a cultural, historical, or stereotypical reference.

even though I love pretty much every design drakx has submitted, they are usually not wearable for me.

This one is TOTALLY wearable. I would wear this one in a heartbeat.

GMV!

this is easily the best shirt in the derby.

AdderXYU wrote:The piece in bold is where you should really reconsider.

It still is basically a mash-up of his own Open Sea and whatever his Two Dragons piece was called. But more importantly, in the grand scheme of things, you are voting for something knowing something else very similar is out there. It's as if there's no respect for the fact that real designers are putting real effort into real pieces, and real money is at stake.

And simply put, that's one more reason the derby is broken... people who don't care that their selfish decisions effect real people putting forth real effort

Ramyb appears to be making a pretty good living off designing these shirts. I'd say that qualifies him as a "real" designer. This isn't an art school class, this is the real world, where, as you pointed out real money is at stake. If something sells, or in the case of woot! foggs, how can you blame someone for continuing to produce it. If I was Ramyb, I'd continue to produce what gets me paid too. Now I am not a normal member of the Ramyb cult, I hate bunnies as much as the next guy, but that's the way the marketplace works. Not just here but everywhere. Shirt.woot! has always been about getting votes. That's the whole idea behind it. You keep claiming that it is broken or doesn’t work anymore, but it seems to me that it has just gotten more popular. I don't think it was ever the utopia of original design that you thought it was. If a club/bar/hangout that you like, gets suddenly popular, and full of people you can't stand, you go somewhere else. Don't show up every night and complain about how cancellation it is.

This doesn't have chopsticks on it; it has a spork. If it was like, chopsticks crossed out or something, it would be.

It's incredibly dark. I'm unsure if you've seen a brown shirt here, but that will be horribly dark and likely to be unseen if printed.
