What part of this is hard to believe? The poor art? The cute animals? The fact that it's doing better than well-done pieces?

It has all the hallmarks of believability of voting. What is accurate is "I find it repulsive that this is being voted on". Because seriously, the only thing I don't believe in the derbies is when woot makes an awesome rejection call, or something good actually makes it to print.

It's off theme and poorly proportioned (seriously, does the image not look thin to you?) even if it wasn't already done.

So yes. No one should have voted for this. At all. People who DID are WRONG. Unequivocally. That it is a stolen design just makes them doubly wrong.

That anyone would vote for a design that is off theme, smooshed thin, and above that already printed means they have no concept of their power of voting. So I say again: woot would be better picking themselves. Like every other site which has standards.

Why would you vote on a shirt if you didn't know where it would be printed?

If you'll notice, I said, "If I could find the link..." and if I do, I will. However, I do not plan to wear myself out trying to prove a point that really I don't care about. Not sure why you do either, unless you know Ramy. But, whatever...

I would say, like ALL RAMY ENTRIES, that is a very tenuous thematic element.

moreover, isn't this the second time he's been "inspired" by Staring Contest?

I mean, I guess to be fair he could have just been inspired by the fact that a reaper was in the fog.

But overall, the fact is that it's nothing special. It's not well done. The arm is jarringly bad, the face doesn't fit the style of the rest of the piece, and the overall "picture" is just chock full of those hideous tiny halftones that make Ramy's work look like pictures taken in mist. And there's zero creativity. It's an idea a hundred people had and was even listed in the write-up.

That people can keep defending the obvious lack of consideration Ramy has for the spirit of this derby makes me feel like the era of creative art and ethical art is long dead, and the consumer is fighting to keep it that way.

All that you were doing was informing us that you are "sick" of a bunch of good artist's styles in deference to ramy's. Which is much like saying, "I am sick and tired of filet mignon, lamb medallions, roast duck, etc. I want some spam." If that's not insulting I don't know what is.

It is insulting to the Spam, that's what. Poor Spam, making it feel all un-worthy. Maybe you should walk a day in the shoes of Spam, carrying your "meat" around all day in a square-ish can, and see how you feel about it then.

Yeah.

Re: I Just Call it Housekeeping

Such a cool concept, and a neat design, but why oh why does it have to be on asphalt? Green would've looked cool. Black would've looked pretty good too. Yellow...even gross olive would've looked cool. Also wondering why you chose to go with white for the heart monitor line since what I first think of is a black screen with a green line. (Haven't been in many hospitals lately though so I don't know if they look the same).

I think what you meant to say was that you are sick of any good artist printing instead of ramy. I know it is difficult to comprehend that the voters suddenly seem to care about quality and originality and that this has left ramy out in the cold with very few prints, but all horrible fads here eventually wane as will ramy.

You'll just have to get your anime schlock somewhere el.....o wait you can't because no other site will print it.

hold on there tiger...

i think he was just stating that if you are sick of ramyb's glowy style then you should also be sick of any other designer's style...because that's exactly what it is, EACH DESIGNER'S OWN STYLE...

its just the way they design...a pattern...

van gogh's painting almost all have the same look to them, don't they?

srm8ib4 wrote:Yeah this shirt is uninspired and overdone. How many grim reaper designs are there in this derby? Although the execution of the design is better than the majority of the submissions of the derby, it lacks originality. What makes a good design is not only its technical merit(i.e., how pleasing it looks), but also the idea behind the design. I think people who vote for this shirt have their minds clouded by the aesthetics of the design that they don't realize how mundane and monotonous it is. Put in another way, this isn't the most creative design I've seen in this derby.

although i do love a ramyb design, i have to agree with you on this isn't the most creative design in this derby.
