This. I don't know how it will turn out on a t-shirt, but the drawing is awesome! I'd love to have it as a poster or something.

go to google images and search for "pumpkin throwing up" ... good tshirt design, but not very original.

might still pick it one up though if it makes top 3.

My point is that this stunt is pretty much an example of what angers people. Read the actual comments, and you'll see more than just random venting. The furor is generated from repeated stunts like this from Ramyb and Sekiyoku.

Why do people feel the need to comment for evil instead of good? Though I suppose it does say "comment" not "positive comment"... But really.. This is suppose to be fun, right? A way for artists to show the world what they can do and hopefully get their artwork slapped on a T-shirt for the world to buy.

I really think the people who have negative things to say shouldn't say anything at all. And those who are just posting to make the artist aware that they might not be following the rules should continue to do so, but only in a respectful way.

No, this isn't supposed to be fun. This is for $1000! Plus more after the first day of sales. And this artist and her boyfriend continually put up "designs" that are sub par, break rules, etc. That is why they get such negativity.

Re: He's right behind us, isn't he

Hmm. While you addressed the previous design's problems, I think you created a few new ones. For one, the situational context that at least made some sense from the previous design (bunny ambushed from behind while approaching a door) is now gone. Now they're all just sorta standing in the middle of nowhere. The bunny standing like a statue on the border just looks awkward. Really, there's no sense of motion or story in the design.

And replacing "The Jungle Within" with a background that looks like stock vector swirls isn't a huge improvement. At least the previous one gave the image of a house out in the woods.

Anyhow, that's my nickel on the subject, trying to keep it strictly a critique on the design.

woot usually rejects shirts that have been basically done before and cats in a pumpkin are like turkeys at thanksgiving, you can probably find a shirt like that elsewhere.

Anyone who is saying that this shirt infringes copyright, please link the original image that it is infringing on.

I don't think anyone holds the copyright to cats in pumpkins.

While I can't say for certain since I don't have access to the copyright records of the world, it makes more than logical sense that a company like Hallmark has copyrighted the image of a black cat in a pumpkin. I say this because I know there are, like I said above, stickers, cards, shirts, etc. And, if you scroll above this a few posts, there are links to two pictures that are disgustingly similar to this (three more in the rejected shirt thread.) Obviously, a tiger isn't copyrighted, nor is a pumpkin. However, a cat (let's call a spade a spade here) in a pumpkin is 99% surely a copyrighted image.

Edit: below for your convenience and that of others who are curious.

Re: He's right behind us, isn't he

What's clear is you didn't think we would notice the old background was from a previous shirt and that the dog didn't look like a zombie at all.

Now, you just dropped in a very flat looking background background that looks pretty clip art-y and it just doesn't make much sense. True, the dog looks more like a zombie, but it is still a rehash of your old bunny, cat and dog characters. Nothing new here.

sekiyoku wrote:I'm surprised tigers are not more associated with halloween- they are the perfect colors.

I actually do associate tigers and pumpkins together sometimes... when I interned at a zoo, around halloween time the tiger keeper would throw pumpkins in the moat and the tiger would jump in and tear them apart! Funny after that to see a design with a tiger cub IN a pumpkin.

Vote!

kylemittskus wrote:I disagree if the idea was to lure the kid inside. If it's just a funny, hairy monster hiding behind a smiley mask, it works. The title suggests a more sinister plan, but without the title, there is no sinister or plan; just a beast who didn't buy enough candy.

It works the way it is but doesn't connect to the title.

I find titles less important than themes, since at woot they aren't even written on the inside of the shirt.

Anyway, we all know that certain people here use titles to shoehorn non-thematic pieces into a derby theme, so ESPECIALLY at woot, it's a non-issue to design quality most times.

oops, didn't see this one as the new one, but i'm still not seeing a zombie dog and like others said it seems like you just threw them up there. and if he's a zombie dog the cat doesn't really seem to care much even though their witchy friend has been eaten. seems like the rabbit should be seeing the dog with his wide eyes and kinda tapping the cat on the shoulder to get his attention, esp since a greyish cat just gets lost on that tree in the background
