Regardless if or when I hear back from her, I'm going to assume it's the character's likeness to an existing one, and change that around. I'll be resubmitting this evening for sure.

Thank you Drakxxx. I can't wait to see how your resubmission looks.

If she was new, then maybe. But she's been pulling stunts like this for a long bloody time.

As far as composition, this one seems better. There were things that were fixed in the second version, but some things got a little worse.

Besides which, this one was ahead in the voting and things that are closer to the top tend to get more votes just from the momentum. Which is why so many people were gnashing teeth about the submission errors at the beginning of the derby.

Honestly what you think of the artist as a person doesn't matter. If you have a problem with the artist, tell woot and let them handle it as they see fit, vote for another shirt, don't buy the shirt, etc. If people like the cat, and they want to wear it, what's the problem?! THREE SHIRTS will be printed. It's not like if you want one it has to be the cat.

It has nothing to do with kittens or pumpkins, and for me it has nothing personal to do with the artist. The problem is that the first version of this shirt was rejected because it's too similar to existing shirts. Woot's opinion, not the voters' opinions. The artist resubmitted the same design with a different colored cat. But it's the same design that was "too similar" before. Nothing has been done to change the "too similar" problem.

It would be the same thing if I gave you hamburger and you said, "I don't eat red meat," and then I took the burger back, wrapped it in lettuce and gave it back to you. It's the same red meat. It doesn't matter if I wrap it in lettuce or put it on rye bread, the original problem has not been addressed.

Re: but srsly it's mai pumpkin

At this point I really don't give a rat's ass about what designs are submitted anymore because I know that regurgitated designs like this will always show up in the fog, and will usually always win. I know some people like this design and would wear a precious Halloween Puss in Boots cat on their chest to prance around gaily in, but this is just not for me. Man, I don't even wanna come into the derby anymore just because I see stuff like this that five year-olds would wear.So good luck seki on your design, I guess.

Adding "Dino" to the name doesn't make it yours. And even if it is yours, you can't use it here.

Re: I Like Candy

After looking at the two versions of the Trick r Treat movie posters, I'd say that's exactly the reason it was rejected. There are elements from both posters in this shirt, almost like they were combined into one. I'm not sure a resub would help since the main character of your shirt appears to be the problem.

Re: I Like Candy

i actually watched trick r treat for the first time last night and if this was rejected due to similarities than there is one large fundamental problem...the trick r treat movie incorporated a variety of elements from commonly told and commonly known tales of horror or halloween. so yes there are similar elements however it is not a rip off of the movie nor does it appear that it is meant to be the character from the movie. almost every part of the four tales from the trick r treat movie came from stories that have been told over and over again. what made the movie unique was tying those tales together. i personally do not see the rejection problem here. the character's head is not shaped the same, he is not attired the same, does not have the same face or even a similar face for that matter, in fact the way his head is done is more reminiscent of a scarecrow's head than the character of the movie. it's a creepy little ragheaded kid on jack o'laterns....elements i associate with halloween. so while yes it might invoke the image of sam in your head ....it's not sam

so woot, the company that consistently prints live traces, copyrighted images and weak parodies of copyrighted characters thinks this is too similar...wow

So this made my 4 year old son very angry at me.
He asked why there was a monster in a pumpkin. I told him that it was supposed to be a cat. Now he isn't talking to me.
