This is indeed asphalt, as someone mentioned

However, I hope the design fills more of the tshirt. The wings would look beautiful if given room to spread. I received Music Pirate in my random 3 shirt package today and I was disappointed in the size of the design, Ramyb. (not sure if that's your fault or woot's, however, so shame on whomever)
Good luck!
Wow, thanks a lot
I believe in terms of filling up the shirt, it depends mostly on what size you're getting. Generally with smaller men's sizes, the design is really large, and as the shirt gets larger, the design appears smaller (they use the same screen size for all men's shirts, so the same size of design is just printed on a much larger shirt so it takes up less space). With a design like this, I'd expect the wings to extend from shoulder to shoulder on a men's small, and then fill about 3/4 of the front horizontally for larger sizes, etc. It's always hard to tell though, ultimately woot makes the decisions about how large a print will be (although I'd ask them to print as wide as possible for a design like this)

Thanks a lot
jmmbell1987 wrote:Anyway, good on the halftones. I still don't care for the design, but that's definitely a good decision.
I had originally included the halftone because the grim reaper's color was blending in with the shirt too much I felt, but I found a better solution to the problem and got rid of them.

you can show a glimpse of hope when you want to, i approve of the move towards actual forms of art that shows potential
think outside of the box
Thanks- I've been trying to get people to realize this for a while now, but most just wait until I post another cute animal so they can say I always do the same thing and ignore whatever is in between :P
Jestik wrote:thanks for taking down the previous version and cleaning it up a lot. Good decision in removing the excessive halftones - this looks much better. Also, thanks for taking away that crosshatching that obscured the blade of the scythe.
All-told, this is much, much better.
I hadn't noticed it until you mentioned the issue with the scythe, and then got a bit obsessive cleaning everything else up in the design as well and I think it definitely came out much better as a result
Thanks for pointing it out.

Goodness, this was unexpected- thanks, even if you don't vote, the consideration means a lot to me coming from you
beso0282 wrote:I love the design, but the angle is oddly placed on the shirt. The negative space messes with my eyes. Still, you've got my vote.
I wanted to go for something different in terms of placement and wasn't sure if it would be well received- thanks though
kender42 wrote:I would like to see the shadows on the left extended down a little to make the shadows look like a full skull. The way it looks now it looks like there are 2 eyes and maybe a nose for a skull. I don't know if it was intended or not but I think making it a fuller image would fill more of the shirt and deal with the 'negative space' that others were complaining about.
I considered extending the skull downwards, but decided I liked the ambiguity more, and also liked the way the diagonal structure fit on the shirt. I'm not saying it was the best decision, but after debating, it's what I ultimately thought I liked the most (although it was a tough call)

Thanks
thaigersnake wrote:This time I didn't know it was a ramyb shirt by looking at the thumbnail. Impressive. I like it. The placement is weird and I'll give it some thought before I vote.
Good job.
It's good to hear things like this, and I'm glad to hear that you like the design.
Anyway, thanks everyone for the support, glad to hear that some people like how the design turned out
