If "win" is defined as "print" I don't think either this or the tiger will. I've been wondering since this first knocked the tiger out of the fog how distant of a fourth place it was in. And while it's still hard to know, it looks very much like the tree, pumpkins, and zombie corn will print, and that this shirt and the tiger are merely fighting out to see which will be the top vote getting among the non-printed shirts.

Ok, I know if there is a tie, that woot will have a 2fer, but what if there is a 3-way tie (wishful thinking)? Will they sell three for the price of one?

I'm trying to stay positive that Candy will print somehow.

C'mon Candy man make a print, very nicely done Drakxxx, been in support of you the whole time.

Not that I don't like it without text. A more accurate statement would be that it's disturbing without text but really funny with.

Well, the chances don't look good for a while, at least.

Woot owns the rights to the design for 60 days. Assuming the design doesn't get an HM and Drakxxx puts the shirt up somewhere else in 60 days, he's missed Halloween, so it would be too little too late.

If he wanted to try to get it printed elsewhere, he'd probably have to wait all the way until close to Halloween next year.

Earlysong wrote:I do not understand why you are trying to squash their arguments. They are trying to help other people understand what they think, they are much more civil than a lot of posters, and they back up their postitions. When you blatantly insult them, call them stupid, etc, you accomplish nothing other than to make them think you are more stupid. Wouldn't it be better to try to argue civilly with them? Even if you don't convince them you are right, at least you would earn their respect. We are all here because we enjoy creative art. It seems a shame to make enemies out of potential friends. :\

You obviously haven't known the extent at which they go, what I talk about extends beyond just this design and thread. I have tried to talk to them civilly, but it's lost when they can't comprehend what they say let alone what I say. Adder has gotten a lot better recently and I haven't been arguing with him and have had some civil conversation with him, somebody else took over the reigns though. Trust me, they have had their fair share of blatant insults towards me as well. One of them being a homosexual joke. I doubt you would call that civil and mature. You can't gain their respect because as long as they disagree with you, they will give you no respect. There are tons of examples around where I'm not involved. You just have to look around. But... this derby is over, onward to the next. Out.

sirensmask wrote:Alrighty, addressing those that "countered" my previous statement.

First off, both entries were nothing more than recoloring and resubmitting. You can argue that oh, this one was because of copyright. Oh, this one is still more original. (I love candy) But you're telling me a creepy kid on pumpkins is something that isn't cliche or done before? I mean the previous entry was a compilation of two movie posters.

Both this entry and the other were addressing the problem of similar things being done. Yes, this is still a cat in a pumpkin. Yes, the other is still a kid ON a pumpkin. But because they changed an element, both have resubmitted a previously rejected piece.

And of course, the matter of if this artist is just messing around with everyone in their evil plot to make more money. Forgive me, I've seem to have forgotten this website as with all businesses is out to make money. And the artists want money too. Do you think we'd have nearly as many artists here if they werent compensated? Likewise, do you think woot isnt just trying to make money too? They sit back and let the community of shirt buyers ultimately decide. But suddenly everyone seems to have brought in some personal baggage, trying to make this contest seem like something more than it is. /rant

Exactly.

Scenario:
You submit a design, it does really well but gets rejected

you have two options:
a) do nothing
b) resubmit with a different color

option "a" leads to nothing
option "b" has potential for 1000$+

tell me which one you would choose?
good grief

I'm only human

I love the illustration, the simple and understated colour choices, the charm of the character (and the pumpkin as well), the way tree twists. It's all wonderful. I think this made 3rd place. It must have. The tree design got bumped out of the fog a few hours ago since I last checked and the dumb cat took it's place. Unless there was some heavy cheating and/or it was EXTREMELY close this entire time Drakxxx should be secure in 3rd place since he wasn't bumped out by the cat.

As for critique: the black wont show up very well on the asphalt (but if you wanted to go for subtle, that's ok), and I'm not really into skull designs (but that's just my personal taste). Maybe this style with some color added next time would be really spectacular. Good job.

Thank-you Boots!

I notice that the voters tend to go for a more "cute" style. Not that I want to start a big thing about it in here-- but that "Mai pumpkin" was disproportionate, the candle was some how lighting the pumpkin from the opposite side, and it was a completely un-original design. yet the voters ate it up

I'd become a sell-out if I could even do "cute" haha.
