Because two designs are similar does not make it a "lifting" of another's design. Computer mice, in their original form, were white. These mice are white. Each of the mice's tracker (ball, laser) is located on their bottom or belly. Its not a copy when anthromorphing an object and placing their parts near where they would be. The only thing now put where they should be following the design of the mouse, is the cord. But it looks much more aesthetically pleasing as the mouse's tail.

GREAT illustration, concept and colors. Both of your designs this week are really nice, and both are criminally under voted.

So we have two designs, both have mice that are also computer mice, both have similar placement of ball/laser and both have a ps/2 and usb cord tail. What makes this one not a rip off of another design other than a different color. If I draw Superman and give him different color skin or a purple cape, it doesn't make it a different design.

Odd. At the top it says this shirt is in 9th place, but when I count, it is definitely in 8th. Refreshing didn't change anything.

There is no #6. That's probably where the removed version of the Beatles would be if it kept the old vote total. I've got to say, this new system of having removed and rejected entries stay in place is kind of weird.

If I draw a toaster, where would the opening be? At the head more likely than not. Where would I put the ball/laser of a mouse? On the stomach. Where would the cord fit best? As the tail.

Anthromorphism is working off an object and turning it into something living. The placement is usually based off preset areas. Because of where the mice attributes are, that dictates the general area. Where would you have want the ball? In the head? Would that look nicer? Probably not. It fits well in the stomach.

Two artists had an idea for living computer mice, and probably a lot more. Does this mean they copied one another? No. They just worked off the same subject matter.

Re: Oceanic Sodium

Wow more votes and comments! I love votes and comments, even ambiguous comments.

Speaking of which,

kender42 wrote:I saw the word sodium and then the image of water and was expecting and explosion when I clicked the thumbnail....sadly you meant sodium chloride.

@kender42, I hope you're not too sad about the pun title, it wasn't meant to make you or anyone else sad. Happily, I wasn't being to accurate with the pun title. Even though the accepted term is Sea Salt, I did use the word Oceanic instead. But, regardless, please take my response in complete jest as I took your correction with a grain of sodium chloride. :D

Also, btw, I sadly think you meant "an explosion" rather than "and explosion". :P

Thanks for the comment and I hope you liked the design, sans the incomplete title of course.

How come the chains are longer on the feather side? If you're implying that the feather weighs more, then the scale should tip, ie, the horizontal bar at the top shouldn't be horizontal...

So in your mind it is in no way possible that she saw that design at the most popular art community on the web and copied it? It happens all the time. Even well established comic book art have been caught doing it.

Does everyone think the card symbols violate the no text rule? Maybe someone can tattle on it and we'll see? I need to repost within 24 hours of the first post? or what's the best way to fix it if it's a violation?

Wow, this is a beautiful design! I'm really not a fan of grim reapers, but I think I'd wear it. It's just such a nice concept with the woman and I really like the way the composition flows... the sort of tapered S-curve.
Good luck, I hope this makes it!

Ugh, I know I should refrain from commenting on my thread, because it's always like reigniting the fire, but I can't help myself- it's just too funny. At first this entry is so overdone and unoriginal that there are a billion t-shirts and drawings and god-knows-what of the concept (never mind that the most similar shirt anyone has found is my own previous submission which I acknowledged that this was a reimagining of, and the next closest shirt is a picture of rainbow actual computer mice with googly eyes). Then it's so rare, so unique of an idea that only one person could have ever come up with it and this MUST be stolen (never mind that the mice are drawn differently and the concepts are not the same at all). You guys need to get your stories straight because you really can't have it both ways. :p

Anyway, thanks again all for the support on the design <3 As always, if you have something to say to me specifically (negative or positive) and want to make sure that I see it/respond, just shoot me a PM.

A misquote, but still applicable:

Woot should really reject a whole bunch of entries this week but it is doubtful because there wouldn't be any good ones left.

Sorry for all the questions this is my first entry.

If Woot is being consistent, they'll reject because the "K" is text. They don't always reject the rejectable entries that are unlikely to print, though. So this could stay up for the whole derby as it is. Since the "K" is obvious in the thumbnail, though, there's a greater chance of rejection.

However, some voters won't vote for something they think is rejectable. So you could be losing those votes because people know it would never print, anyway.

You can resubmit without the "K" and remove this entry, or you can leave both up and put a note in this one saying that you've resubmitted, or you can wait to see if it's rejected, which could be tomorrow. If you wait, you might not get back as many votes as if you did it sooner, but you never know.

There's no rule about needing to repost within 24 hours, it's just that you have 24 hours to remove an entry.
