Can anyone make a "Gone Club'n" design where a caveman is holding a club and dragging a woman back to his cave?

Where is the justification for some guy coming along, stealing the idea and drawing it himself? If I repainted the Mona Lisa but made the background more detailed, could I call it my original work?

I'm thinking that the three white boxes are all the same person. Two of the three were created the same day and the other 5 days ago. I would just ignore them (him/her) and hopefully they'll break their (his/her) fingers so they (he/she) can't type anymore.

Well, the VW Beetles got rejected, so this one is one notch higher. I hope it makes it, but I have the feeling we'll end up with cutesy turtles, chickens, and mice.

Aww, thanks mikan! I liked the thought of getting a little cutie snail that delivers a message from someone! Glad you feel like that too... I do like getting snail mail from friends/family, there is a definitely a warm and solid feeling to it!

Because the new system doesn't move all the rejected entries to the bottom like it used to. Which is a pain.

You're absolutely right, but they rejected a TMNT design sometime back for the videogame rule. Just know that it has a chance of happening, fair or not.

Well technically it is not a double pun I guess. I am just saying it is a playing on both words as they both fit in the two different contexts.

It is going to get rejected on copyright, text, and not being a pun.

jel2301 wrote:I think you might be joking, but I'm not sure. This of course isn't a video game reference because there were rock bands before the game came out, and that's where the game got it's name.

Now if someone did a pun on "guitar hero" then I think it would be ruled a video game reference, because although that term technically may have existed before the game, its usage outside of references to the game is very very minimal, and the chances that someone would create a shirt baesd on it and not be referencing the game would be nearly zero.

Of course I am joking on the inconsistent rejection rule of Woot. Still lamenting on the rejection of TMNT shirt in the cooking derby.

... arent you a smartypants... fine its not a statement with two conflicting words right after one another, but in terms of literary effect it is an oxymoron. if something is funny, then it should be worn on a shirt imo. so for me, yes even in my opinion, it is oxymoronic. a funny unwearable shirt is an oxymoron i think, but others may not choose their shirts based on humor, so for them its not an oxymoron. i hope that clears things up, and i was a fool for not elaborating more here on the internet. but good to see you felt commenting on that was important, and hopefully any other people unsatisfied with the poor execution of my previous comment now feel more complete as persons

Ah hm. Good question. I probably should have put that down. An axon runs the entire length of your torso/leg/arm/limb. So there it goes.

Actually quite the opposite. If you want to look at long term trends the criticism against ramy and seki has increased pretty dramatically and their vote totals and print totals have dropped dramatically as well.

As many have already stated over the course of the several past derbies, most voters don't even look at the threads. Most ramy and seki voters would vote either way regardless of what's said. I wouldn't doubt they are pulling them all over from gaia online just to vote as we've seen a massive increase in one or two woot accounts vehemently defending these two as if they had some stake in the victory.

Not to mention the spite votes are nowhere near enough to print anything otherwise they'd print every week. The spite voters don't wait for a thread criticizing seki to cast their vote. They just find the shiny thumbnail and hit "I'd want one". There's no need to even look what's going on. And for every spite voter there are just as many who were on the fence and don't vote as a result of the discussion here.

So no, the dissent is not counter productive by any means and there's absolutely no evidence to believe it is other than two or three users here and there saying, "I'm gonna vote for this cause you're mean."

Rejected because: clever, but this concept is already being touted by VW themselves. Not likely a winning battle.

If it's already being done, how clever is this really?

straightshooter wrote:So, Mr. High and Mighty, you think most visual puns are "original ideas" that no one has ever thought of before? I found shirts similar to the majority of this week's entries on other sites. To accuse someone of thievery because it is an idea that someone has thought of before is completely outrageous. Puns are based on common sayings. Therefore, it is only natural that there will be some repeats of ideas. It is the execution that makes it a viable design. No one would understand the joke if it were totally unheard of.

Wouldn't call it so much theft as mundane. I didn't think it was clever the first time it was done in a derby. Obviously others still think it's clever for some reason, but that doesn't mean the idea itself hasn't been worn way too thin.
Also, I'm pretty sure woot deletes most of my posts. Sad.

Relax. I am just saying that I have vague impression about a visual pun about "pointless" being made like this, not that yours is anything lacking originality *cough*computer mouse*cough.
Anyway visual puns designs are too easy to be similar. I am sure my own designs have been made before (I mean, the actual visual pun in a similar fashion).

But I do like your fishy better. It is just weird to have this on a shirt (at least for me).
