Re: Time to Fly, Little One

Being around horses all my life the anatomy bothers me some but I can tentatively look over it for the sake of mythology.

But yeesh, those pasterns! Any horse with feet like that wouldn't be sound for long.

Sorry. I can't help myself sometimes.

I live, I learn, and so aid my end while I believe I'm winning

xazothia wrote:Were you going for any specific sort of cultural reference with this one? The sun on the eagle's head + his general body placement makes me think Egypt, but an eagle with a snake always means "Mexico" in my head. Not a critique or anything, just curiosity.

"He was born in Arizona, moved to Babylonia..."

I wanted to give the Egyptian motif an American feel, that's really all. I actually saw a hawk land on a low branch of a walnut tree in my yard one early morning, and realized it was holding something in it's claws, and as it sort of picked up that leg, standing on one leg only, I saw it was a snake twisting around. Really neat.

I think that the red sun is kind of associatable with the Southwest, too.

Re: Leonardo Da Vinci's cat

I absolutely love the da Vinci machine, but it looks like a vampire cat on crack chasing after a windup toy bird. If they got changed, I would all over this. But, since you're in the fog, that probably won't happen. Props for the da Vinci machine. And the blue is way better than the yellow.

As shown here

Seriously, I have no idea in what world this is similar to that game, and yet a cat painted orange isn't identical to the same cat painted black.

Clearly, it seems. Good to see that woot is keeping that track record going of stringently applying all rules only to quality designers who would only have unkowingly or inadvertently broken them and not to repeat offenders who continually and deliberately circumvent the rules.

I went with the shirt color that made me the happiest. I got the Kitties Gratis shirt a few weeks ago and I love that orange color.

Re: Time to Fly, Little One

Anybody remember Fashion Star Fillies? They were toy horses for little girls that were painted all kinds of gaudy colors. They had outfits and you could comb their hair - like a Barbie in horse form. Mine was supposed to be a teenager and from what I remember it had this same body. I thought it was the prettiest thing ever so that's where the look of this one came from. And why should't he have tiny feet? He's a flyer, not a walker.

As I said on the previous entry (Orange Shirt), this design is the most EPIC of the derby - on the Epic level of the X-Treme Nat. Park shirt (that I hope does well in the double-take derby and gets printed!)
