I don't want to crush anyones dreams or anything, but obviously these pucker shirts are not doing well so why do you keep making them?

This is really fun!
I had no idea whatsoever that it was your design, until I noticed you responding to comments about it

Good job, I love seeing something new from artists week after week.

Re: Your Time to Fly

First, thank you to everyone who is commenting and voting. Thanks for your time and your interest, very much!

When I designed this, my concept was to make a more powerful take on the typical shirts with wings on the back (hence the wings as the design's centerpiece) and jetpack came to mind. I was either completely finished or verysuperclose when the existence of other jetpacks was brought to my attention, and of course that was disappointing.

I used the jetpack from The Rocketeer and another concept someone had physically built as references, so I do understand that the mechanics of the design would be similar to others' because they were also likely inspired by actual jetpacks. Artistically, I really don't think it came out too similarly to the others I've been shown. I'd honestly not seen them before, no inspiration came from them.

I just wanted to state that my mind was certainly far from the possibility of upsetting anyone as I was drawing, and I do promise I created this with originality.

Thanks again, all.

Not to mention that this same concept was already submitted here before and rejected back in derby 100.

Re: Fail

Not exactly alike, but close enough that I believe it shouldn't be allowed in the derby. This one was on the second page of a Google image search for "ET shirt".

So, while I agree with you on the physics here requiring a nozzle, I have decided to assume that these are not jetpacks as one would think of them traditionally. I think they are using a technology that does not yet exist with our current physics. Bernoulli is no more! After all, this is at some fantastical point in the future where Penguins, without the aid of opposable digits, wage war with Kiwis. So, I'm pretty sure they've figured some new stuff out.

And I still want to wear it.

I'm right there with you. That said, I love polar bears and this is a darn good one. I'd have to suspend disbelief and I'd definitely be in for one of these. Love it!

In an alternate universe, this is what they're reporting: "On the 101 today, we have a dragon tie-up, with bystanders waving their hands by the side of the road . . . we advise you to seek alternate routes." Cool design.

i remember a science teacher once posed a question to my class about how many penguins a polar bear could eat given a certain amount of territory with x penguins on land and x in the ocean, with x acres of turn being half ice have ocean. and given 8 hours to hunt.
i piped up with polar bears couldn't eat any since they don't live on the same side of the planet.
turns out that was the correct answer XD

I would agree, I like the play on underwater flying and like the colors. I could do without all the animal themes in everything, but I like this, and also liked Boot's whales (hopefully to print tommorrow!) as well.

Re: Your Time to Fly

So sweat folks, even if this design does get rejected for being too similar to existing shirts all the designer has to do is make the jetpack blue instead of gold and add in some fancy high tech racing stripes and he'll be good to go!
