Thanks! I have the flying box boy too if you feel so inclined. Hint hint. I really like your polar bear piece too though I side with the people making the fuss over penguins and polar bears cohabitating. Always irked me when I saw the Coke commercial...

Re: Kid's Dream (mono ver.)

You definitely have talent as an illustrator. I think the main issue here is that the main image is that of a kid point upward. While I don't share adder's view on kids, I think the shirt needs more of a visual hook than a pointing kid. Tjost's "This Way Up" design is a good example. It features a kid front and center, but in the clear context that he's pretending to fly in a cardboard box.

Re: Flying Fish V.3 (Watercolor on white)

Of the three, this is by far my favorite version and quite possibly my favorite design of yours. Like many, I am not a fan of white tee's, but the watercolory look works really well. The only think I would criticize would be the Thumb. Showing the water, as opposed to the fish, doesn't make a viewer think "flight" and therefore click, IMO. Great job and definitely GMV.

glow? is that a gradient? i thought they weren't allowed. unless that is a very fine halftone.

Yea, actually you are right. I wasn't sure how to do the half-tone but i'm going to go back and fix it. Thanks for letting me know.

This design is lovely, the colors are great, the concept is beautiful and I would really like to buy this...

But whenever I look at the fish all I see is that the number of fins is wrong and they don't have gills and augh my brain it hurts.
It's like seeing a cat with 8 legs or a human with 3 arms and a missing nose. *twitches sadly in fish biologist corner*

Re: Up, Up, and Away (Cream Shirt)

Since heather gray could be considered the kiss of death for a design, I decided to try a cream shirt and see how that would measure up. Adjusted some colors accordingly and fixed a few details that had been bugging me.

This would look spectacular on white. Not feeling the cream at all. Doesn't really make any sense for "sky."

I do wish this was on white as well... it also fits, as clouds/sky are more of a white color than cream. I'm guessing patrickpens considered both, so maybe the overall look was just dreamier with cream.

I'm in love with this shirt. It was an 'aw' reaction, and then an 'oh', and now I'm sad. I feel like the one floating away isn't going to come out of this adventure so well, and I feel terrible for the one that's all alone.

Definitely got my vote. There's no way I wouldn't share this myriad of emotion with the T-shirt creepers around campus.

After a couple of days, I've pin-pointed *exactly* why this shirt makes me cry every time I look at it.

I've been in a long distance relationship for a couple of years now. I was the spaceman fishy who flew 3000 miles away to follow my dreams, but still feels immensely guilty every day about leaving the fishy that loves me behind. :'(

Re: Fly Smarter...

Very cute idea and illustration. I think it looks a little bland, tho. Maybe a moon or clouds would give visual interest, or making the placement larger and more centered w/o a background would make it seem less floating-off-in-nothing.

Love the way you draw bats.

Thanks slhampel! Wow, so many favorites. I'm with you on the white tee part, but white was just what I imagined when I thought about doing a watercolory flying fish design. You may be right about the thumbnail... oops.
Thanks for the comments!

gumberculees wrote:how could you not? the only way to see the image is to click on the thumbnail, and the thumbnail displays the word "fail" really close to the joke. so either you have very large blind spots on your eyes, or you are making that up just for the sake of arguing for a design that has no merit other than "it made you laugh". the fact is radiomode felt the need to put the word "fail" on the thumbnail, and someone people think it was a transparant and shallow way to get quick votes. we will never know what difference it made because its already there. but im willing to bet, you slap the word fail on a thumbnail of any of these other designs and its going to get more views, if not more votes.

Disagree. Still funny without it, still would have looked at it without "fail", even if a sort of similar shirt has been done before.

I would wear it. While yes, it is my first, I kind of like it. It's simple, but references that stupid video that gets played so often that has all of the failed flying inventions. Seems pretty straight forward to me. I get tired of so many of the designs here being people drawing cute animals that have nothing to do with the theme. I guess there is more of a teenage japanese girl aesthetic in play here than I realised.
