Heh. Obviously JJ was born in 1913 and is 96 years old. Or created the username when he/she was 13 years old. Ten years ago. Or it's his/her lucky number.

Honestly, I just think it's funny when people jump to conclusions about people based on user names. I've had all sorts of assumptions about HalfWheat.

I love this one! Definitely my favorite shirt in this derby, maybe ever. Two thumbs up!

Not to say that people's assumptions are always correct but what you choose for your username says a lot about you if you think about it. For better or worse, it is a name that you are choosing to represent yourself to whatever anonymous community you happen to be joining. Picking a random user name with a bunch of letters and numbers is just as telling as something with underlying meaning.

Oh sure, it means something, but as you said the assumptions can be way off base. Which is fine, too, when someone knows that their assumptions could be wrong. The funny part about it is when someone gets all huffy and makes comments along the line of "Well, it's obvious from your username..."

Maybe some day I'll grow up and be WholeWheat.

If the shirt said fail, that wouldn't be incidental text. Incidental is something like the word "Stop" on a stop sign, "#2" on a pencil which appears because it is inherent to the object being illustrated. You can still drow a stop sign or a pencil without any letters and people would still know what they are. The word fail would not be incidental unless it was somehow incorporated into the pattern of the shattering moon or subtly written in the crater pattern, but those ideas would definitelty be stretching the idea of incidental.

I do not believe that I asked for an explanation, merely making a comment. I'm fully aware of the differences, I just am AMUSED by what people consider "right" and "wrong" around here. This entire site is obviously not about integrity, or no artist would leave up a shirt that has been done before, whether he/she was aware of that fact before or after the shirt was created.

I don't think I have said ANYWHERE that this shouldn't have been rejected. It certainly should have, and woot deserves a collective slap on the mouth for not doing so.

The difference is that Blammoed has been around for a while and this is the first time this has happened, to my recollection. The people who normally get the grief have been here a while and consistently exhibit far more lack of respect on a near weekly basis.

There is no difference on rejectability, but there certainly is a difference in situations, unless you're far more Draconian than people peg me as being.

I really want this shirt - are you selling it elsewhere?

Yup, Woot!, you f'd up on this one. I'm a black box level Wooter (100 plus purchases annually) and I won't be making any new purchases with you guys because of this. I stayed up late waiting for ET and, you know what, I WANT ET DAMMIT! Other shirt co's online have done ET and other 'copyrighted' parodies with ZERO repercussions. The only disaster here is the stupidity of rejecting it so late in the game and for all the wrong reasons.

I am totally in for one! Great design. I can feel for them, as I have fish that like to try jumping out of the tank once in a while.

I have never seen so much animosity and hand wringing over a shirt design. Its like playing a game online, and listening to the 3 worst players crying about how everyone else must be cheating, except there's a distinctive lack of RAEGQUIT going on...

Except ET is not only a copyrighted character, but the shirt concept has technically been done already.

Thank you, though, for underscoring the differences here. You want your shirt to win regardless of what reasons it may have to be rejected, because you think you deserve it. While many of us want good shirts to win regardless of our own desire, because we have a sense of duty to people who take the time to make the most creative and quality shirts possible.
