Re: Violin Music (by pwrpufgrl - age 6)

Rejection reason number 2:

The drawing is not a Violin... It's a Guitar

Violins only have 4 strings. In this drawing there's WAY more than 4 strings, but there ARE 6 tuning knobs... The number of strings a guitar has.

Also Violins don't have the center hole that is shown on the design... They have smaller "S" shaped holes on either side of the strings. Acoustic guitars, however, DO have the hole in the center of the body.

Finally... Violin's don't make those color of notes... Those are CLEARLY the note colors of a guitar (Ok... this last one was inserted just to be humorous and to make myself look less assholeish)

Here's some images for references

Guitar:

AdderXYU wrote:Getting votes purely by something not your own merit? Cheating or no, that alone is fraud enough to get a swift ejection from a well-run contest (you make your own conclusions here). Woot states that they reserve the right to reject anything that seems to be getting sketchy votes. Sadly, they've never ACTED on this, to my knowledge. And probably won't now. I hope this sells poorly enough to prove WHY they should, when it inevitably is kept around and wins.

Agreed. I'm going to be honest ... the moment I saw this I was wondering why it was in the fog. This is something I would never wear on a shirt and can't understand why people would

The texture is amazing on this. I also find the blue plaid a little strange. Perhaps a green would have been a better choice, but I still think this is quite excellent.

The way this is laid out makes me think it should be worn with a big coat... you know, like those sketchy watch salesmen who open up and show their wares? only instead of watches, it'd be beakers and flasks.

Re: Vanilla Visage Resub

Muse, I'm really enjoying your work! I just got a Mucha art book for Christmas and it looks similar to a few few of his pieces, minus the standard floral accents he usually puts in.

To that point, I think vanilla orchid blooms might pump this up from a wonderfully done woman to a beautiful and complete piece.

Either way, you got my vote and my purchase.

I do like the design of the shirt, I just feel that it doesn't really fit in. The Phoenix is the main attraction to the shirt, while the volcano sits down in slumberland...

I don't know if navy would've worked, but I think powder blue could go well with this. White is nice, though. Well done! GMV

Thanks PoetaRossa, glad you like it! I did experiment with baby blue and it was nice, but preferred the white. And nice to know some people you know would love the veggie vikings too

You're right... quite a few colors did work. It was hard choosing which one! Hopefully people will like the white.

I just found this site awhile ago, I think it's more this style: www.designbyhumans.com

Re: Violin Music (by pwrpufgrl - age 6)

I really think that including the child's age in the title is a cheap shot. If it wins it should be because the design is popular, not because everyone is going, "Aww, look at what the little kiddie drew." Perhaps some people like it because of the actual design, but if that is the case, the "age 6" part is irrelevant and should be left out.

That being said, it is rather adorable. I just don't think it's fair to the adults to have their butts whooped by a 6 year old because she's 6 years old. :\

Trust me, even the nicest of nicies are thinking it and not saying it. This has been done in the past and people have called them out on it.
The bad thing is that once it gets a steam roll like being in the fog, now you get the votes just to see what happens if it prints.
