I'm going to assume you are not being specific to me this time and this was directed towards JonGalt. But knowing you, you threw some jabs in there because, well... that's you. So if it was directed at me, then I really don't care because you won't act civil in a discussion nor comprehend what I write anyway so it's not worth it. But I do find it very funny that you accuse others of thinking the comments are soley for their own use. Have I introduced you to my friend the Kettle?

palookaboy wrote:An old debate teacher of mine used to say that when when an opponent says "It's not worth arguing over," it generally means they know they've lost the argument or they have nothing left to stand on and they don't want to be embarrassed. They want to devalue the debate itself for two reason: if you continue with it, you're wasting time, not making a valid point; and when they lose, who cares? It's not like its even worth arguing over.

I said it's not worth arguing over because woot has made their decision and it's staying and deemed on theme. That is not admit of defeat, nor is that saying it wasn't worth the discussion of difference in opinions, that is stating that the debate is already over by the decision maker. There is a big difference. Just as their is a big difference between criticism and rude insults. Some people lack the understanding of the two.

Check with your old debate teacher and ask him if you should keep on debating after the debate is over and everybody has left the room because a decision was made and concluded (woot is not rejecting it). Also, ask that teacher if you should bring in your own personal issues and feelings into a debate("ramby cheats the system and is not a 'real' designer" [not necessarily used in this thread]). Don't you also use facts to support your case in a debate, not just shoving your personal opinion upon the other? I'm not saying you are guilty of this, but there are some who are. This theme is a matter of perception, there is no black and white, yet some insist there is, and insist they are always right and never agree to disagree.

So yes, it's not worth debating over anymore, anybody who does is obviously standing on a soap box. Woot didn't reject it, the debate is over. As I said before, stating an opinion should be done, it should not be forced upon others and that is what some "elitist" around here try to do... with very little success I might add.

I agree with what most have said. Great illustration and art work. I personally don't necessarily want a video game reference on a shirt, but we do need to see more quality of this caliber on here. keep up the good work!

I appreciate your help...

I gotta say, I am not a fan of Mario, but this design is hi-lar-ious!! HAAA! I really like the design overall, great execution. It would have been extra cute if the spots on his undies were stars, lol! Awesome job.

Definitely agree with the above comments. I'd love to get this if only the water weren't so boxy. Really cool style though.

I agree on all counts. The guardians are really great - I love the style and colors.

Re: Eisler's Nightmare

I hate to ask this, since I actually like this shirt, but how does this fit the theme? Aside from the title, what about a pacman reference on a circuit board says anything about nightmares?

It seems that the ratio is so fragile that it's extremely unlikely that anyone will ever actually know that they've got the record, because any direct reference to the record effectively betrays it. The shirt designer would have to singlehandedly observe and verify it, and then keep completely quiet about it or else someone will ruin it.

My only problem with this shirt is the representation of the Goomba...

Goombas aren't mushrooms, they're chestnuts (check it out on wikipedia).

Re: dreamcatcher

Nice design(like the use of blue and purple, though that's probably a bit skewed by my like for the colors). That being said, not so sure I'd wear the shirt itself. Still, nice design.

What are you people thinking?

It's a niche design. It's well drawn, but honestly, I don't think it has much more mass appeal (at least to woot's audience) than an edgarrmcherly design.

Yankeebird, you are right pwrpufgrl used 7 colors. She designed it on white then at the last minute decided she liked it on blue. It is ok though. As I said, you were right. Watch for her resub around 6 pm and let her know what you think. You are her most avid follower next to me! Seriously, we do live and learn and I thank you for calling this error to our attention.

Actually, I believe that is just a mushroom. Probably a purple poison death shroom if I had to guess (not in the original SMB, but whatever. If you look closer you can see the Goomba very clearly to the right of the shroom.

Re: I eats one of each!

A close-up would help- it's kindof hard to tell what he is eating. Most artists will submit the shirt comp with a larger image in the backround so we can tell what's going on in the design. However, this is still a cute design and a good effort. Is this the first derby that you've entered? There are a lot of really talented artists around here that are really nice about giving feedback if you send them a private message. I believe there is also a forum in the "Community" boards about "tips for new artists". Check that out, and i hope it helps. Keep at it!

You're right. You can use s' for any name that ends in "s" as long as the object of the sentence is singular.
