Meh. Not really. The only similarity is the Grim Reaper figure as a child, and that's about it; the "children" are not even drawn the same way.

dsatele wrote:Nightmares are scary right? Scary why? Because if they were real, you'd be scared. Well, if I turned a street corner and came across this scene with the ominous dark clouds, the fire pits, the dark playground, and a little child in death's uniform, I'd mess my pants.

But this derby isn't "things you'd be scared to stumble upon in real life". By that standard, most t-shirts on here, or any website for that matter, could be construed to be nightmares. Most t-shirts woot, Threadless and the like are rooted in some kind of fantasy, which in turn would be strange or scary if they were real.

ChaosDoctor07 wrote:Meh...Nice idea, but the whole child nudity thing is kind of bothersome, even with the bar there. Plus, the faces don't look like they'd be that terribly noticeable on the shirt. All I could suggest is perhaps doing something similar along the lines of public speaking, but maybe have the faces more monstrous/"nightmarish" and apparent, relative to the shirt, and maybe have the kid in boxers or something or, to ignore that entire argument, wearing normal clothes on the stage.

Agreed. That'd be an awkward explanation to have to provide. Plus, the bar itself just looks strange. I agree that adding some boxers would get the message across and fix those issues.

I'd also like to add that the faces seem to be barely visible from the shirt comp.

Re: What balloons may dream about

I like the idea, it's certainly on theme (I love that the balloon is wearing a night cap) and, everything is really well rendered, but personally I'd like to see the balloon either already popped (with 'border' lines indicating where it was) or popping in the dream. Maybe with some motion lines indicating movement for the needle? Or a hand holding the needle? Though I'm not sure how that would do for scale..

Anyway, even if you don't plan on changing anything, you have my vote. The balloon in a night cap is somehow really cute.

The rejection is not a total surprise. The reason given is Potty Humor. I cannot say I would wear the shirt to church, but I do not feel it is offensive.

Also, last I checked, there is a non-rejected design with an actual potty on it..

Thanks for your comments. The balloon's tail is fanning behind him like he is running from the needle.

I think you did an interesting take on a rather hackneyed topic. Not in for one because me no likey video games, but damn fine job nevertheless.

Re: The Sleep of Reason Produces Flying Turtles

Ever since I was driving through Alabama and saw the Mobile Museum of Art's Goya exhibition last year, I've been wanting to do a shirt based on the composition and imagery of the famous "The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters" print. So here it is.

I know video game references are contentious, but I'm very proud of this design and I hope you like it, too.

edit: Here's what the Goya print looks like for those who don't like clicking links.

I would of even liked it better if you had gone with a more flame looking mane... even though I did make a slight jab about you entering a ponyta looking design (in the pre-derby discussion).

Just my 2 cents.

looks like the horse is wearing a toupee.
