Does no one else think this too closely resembles the underwater turnpike of Finding Nemo?

My first thought also. The heather color cheapens every design. And I like the design.

So hilarious! The pink hoody on the turtle is such a great touch. No one creates characters quite like you, Walmazan. Great as always!

Re: Tools of the Trade

As a Zelda fan I really like this but the Roc Feathers look like leaves to me. I had to look at the description to figure out what they were. I thought it had something to do with a greek deity at first.

Re: Faster, Higher, Stronger, Pucker

So, I guess I'm gonna show off my noob-ness now. I've seen this character as an entry in a derby before and I don't understand. Is this from something? Does it represent something? I mean, no offense, and I'm really not trying to start a argument or anything, but I think the character looks pretty dumb. And I was and still am suprised it gets as many votes each derby as it does. I just don't get it. I feel like there's something going on that I don't know about.

Looks nice in the image, but I'm not convinced it will print well with all of those dark-on-black halftones.

Omelets made great can this be more mediocre???
The perspective is AWFULL!!!!
As all the ramy 'designs' is an unhappy animal doing something!
Please. If your gonna be the first one every derby, at least do something with quality.

I do like the colors but this will not print well -at all- here. The white underbase will really show through even if they're perfectly spot on with the registration.

I think it'll print OK, because the halftones are in white and light blue. With the white underbase it should look fine. Woot can do pretty fine details.

Only thing I'd be concerned with is wearing a sheet of ink, cause this one will be thick.

From the first derby, Kenney has been rocking the pucker meme, where he takes a pair of lips and artistically puts them into the theme of the week. Other memes have come and gone, but his have remained for the last two years. And as such, there's a decent fan base.

Here's the first one, all those months ago

This design has a pretty clear story to it which is simple and fun, but the aesthetic is all about textures- frog skin, ocean waves, clouds, fabric, etc... I hope you like it.

Re: Awesomer.

Awesome design--however, it is adult in content, and since it's wearable art, it concerns me that I couldn't censor who views it and who doesn't (like children...).

That would bother me.

I'm starting to get really disillusioned with this site... so many cool designs that never make it to print, and then make it into the double-take derby and fail to print yet again.

This has GMV, but let's face it, it will probably lose to a turtle with rocket boosters.

Smoothesuede wrote:Raptors are typically the species people look at for clues on bird evolution, I believe; whereas pterosaurs remained unfeathered and even may have had hair-like covering. To the best of my knowledge, a feathered raptor(microraptor) achieved glide-assisted flight long before the pterosaurs(roughly 60 million years before). It would be an odd quirk for a species to evolve feathers, lose them(and gain hair), and then evolve them again.

But I'm not an expert. I invite citation or fact-checking to prove me wrong.

Also, I like the shirt. :D

How exactly does this reference the stronger, better, faster theme? This isn't meant to be an attack so I hope you don't take it that way! I just like to know the backstory of my shirts before I wear them, and the relevance of this isn't evident to me.

Something about it just feels lazy to me, like any ol' chump could come up with this and replicate the art fairly easily given only a few moments of thought.
Just doesn't do it for me... That, and I hate-hate-hate squiggly lines(like those used for his torso/apron), it looks childish and silly to me; not in a good way.

Very sorry.

No need to apologize for an opinion that's well thought out.

However, I think it's erroneous to suggest that anyone could come up with this. Again, that's a superficial view of the art. Not just anyone could come up with something this demented, conveying so much... well... happiness. I can see how it's not for everyone. Hell, if it printed, I doubt it'd sell well at all. But I don't think there's much real merit to the argument that anyone could come up with this.

He's built to be faster, stronger, and better, but all he wants to do is hug. He accidentally crushes things with his faster/stronger build. I was going for ironic.
