Thanks, I think the extra stage (hand coming out of the ground) kind of "grounded" the loose end there (pun intended :P ) I do appreciate the feedback though, and the suggestions that ppl had.

Excellently rendered. Excellent literary reference.

Aw, thanks so much, Bass ;-;! I really had a hard time deciding what to do with the background. I wanted something that helped the design pop a little more.

Btw, I'm still waiting for my Jas/Bass shirt to come in the mail ;D.

I really like how the moon turned out in the end. Looks wonderful . I know I said I liked the lighter blues, but the navy blue was probably the better choice anyway, since it's more fitting.

The theme this week is pretty l@me (seriously... there is a word filter on l@me?), but how is this on topic? Granted there are a bunch of submissions I question this week. The last thing I think of is faster, higher, stronger. Hooks don't make me think stronger if that's the angle.

Maybe I am just naive, but I too am not getting how this is on theme. Is he stronger now because of his hook hands?
Or is the guy just high?

Re: Tools of the Trade Ver 2.0

A re-sub to hopefully solved some issues. Please re-vote.

This shirt holds three of the magic items from the Legend of Zelda games (Which are also rather similar to objects from Greek myth as chance would have it).

Each one grants a power (Pegasus boots let you run faster, Roc's Feather lets you jump high, and the power bracelets grant great strength.) So each item represents the words of the Olympic motto.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic mantellisaurus. We can make him better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster.

DivineAna wrote:I like the artwork, but I find the placement on the shirt a little off-- too high up? It kind of unbalances the design.

Placement is just basic. They can print it there or lower. Just basic center chest. It's the first time I've heard it was too high though. Normally it's "Oh my God, but my boobies go there!"

walmazan wrote:Hahahaha. I love the idea, and the Artwork

Little suggestion, Just I think the scale don't mach between the cat and the owl, or maybe is the perspective!.... but really it's an awesome work!

Thanks! Love your work. Yeah, I just wanted them to be the same size just for design sake. No perspective. The owl is a bit more cartoony than the cat. I wanted the owl to be a bit cuter and the cat to look very serious and focused. Hopefully it still works.

idefix04 wrote:Where's the theme?

"It's in the tree."

The theme is about being better. Faster, Higher, Stronger, whatever. Just being a step up.

Great Horned Owl = Nocturnal aka Nighttime Badass known to hunt rodents and in some cases, even housecats.

Cat + Nightvision + Sniper Rifle = The New Nighttime Badass known to hunt all and be hunted by none.

The placement of the crane on the right seems sort of off and disconnected.. I think I'd prefer the design without it.

And Kenney is nice and follows the rules of teh derbies, and lots of times, his Puckers fit the themes better than 50% of the other derby entries. One day, a Pucker will print. I don't think a Pucker has ever been rejected. Kenney, can you verify?

thatrobert wrote:Gattaca ref, cool. I like your silhouette/vector technique on this. The only piece that doesn't work is the stars -- a bit too blobby when everything else is so sharp. Maybe more/smaller stars?

I somewhat took your advice. I dropped the stars and instead of placing different stars, I put Saturn. His mission takes him to one of its moons. Seems to match the rest of the design better. The second version is here. Thanks for your input and hope you like the newer version.
