Re: PAYBACK

This might actually be the best shirt in the derby, because you managed to combine both vintage and modern (and nerdy). Perfect.

Is that clinic at the Granite Curling Club by any chance? If so, perhaps I'll be your instructor... wearing this damn fine shirt!!!

cakeninjak wrote:The way you have drawn this, it looks like the car is making a really fast left turn, but the wheels are pointing to the right. O_O

I know this car can travel through the future, but I didn't know it was that magical.

Countersteer. That's not the problem I have with the drawing though. The wheels are too small, especially the front. As a huge car guy that is a problem for me. Also, I think DeLoreans are going to be way overdone in this derby.

I agree. Mainly the part about it's timeslot is what is bugging me. I like the non-text parts however.

Re: Part of this Complete Breakfast!

Ok, first off

arparham drew this... or so I was told ... =)

Anyway this was a last minute thing. Hey would you work with me. Hey I'm busy but whatcha got. Hey check this out. Hey that's funny. Something something then THIS.

At 1:30am on Monday. Haha. This is pretty funny I must admit. Another fun one to color. And unfortunately I don't use Photoshop or anything fancy and well... I did all that distressing manually. No special brushes or effect. Can I have a cookie?

So what's this about. It's about those 50's TV Show families and how damn happy they were. Well, this was the T-Shirt you weren't supposed to see. Mom's "secret ingredient".

Closer view

Re: See evil, Hear evil, Speak evil

My basic point is that nobody posting should be commenting on what is and what ain't vintage. What anyone views as vintage is subjective. Besides, Woot! took it out of the hands of the general public by defining it themselves. And yes, what people subjectively see as "minimal" or "ineffectual" distressing still counts by their definition. So the talk about it's not vintage is moot cause Woot! says it's vintage.

Just say you hate the shirt. Just say Ramy is the anti-christ/enema of the t-shirt art world. Just say that mutant freakmonkeys give you nightmares. But leave vintage arguments out of it.

BTW, it's an AWESOME shirt

BootsBoots wrote:So much better than the other one. It's pretty funny and really authentic looking too.

Thirded. And it would be an absolute SCANDAL for woot to reject this based on similarity, b/c, aside from being much funnier, much cooler looking and more visually interesting, it's just clearly a whole different kind of shirt.

Voted! I was hoping somebody would do something with the pee chee folder art. I think it might be a regional thing though, I know I've talked to many people from the east who never heard of them.

The graphical style is about as far from vintage cartoon as it gets. It looks like a modern American interpretation of Japanese anime.

If your idea of vintage cartoon is 2002 then yes this is full of vintageness.
