Re: Vote Abe in 1860

I think it's spiffy. I still think Stephen A. Douglas would've been the bees knees as the president. His ideas on Popular Sovereignty ring true and show he was weeks ahead of the competition!

I am, of course being facetious. Nice shirt, Professor Brendan.

Also, Adams did not run as Washington's Vice President. Back then the presidential candidate with the second most votes became vice president.

Black. The design was inspired by Pink Floyd.

Re: Tweets are for Birds

I can appreciate the joke, but it seems the core of the design is based around the giant block font letters you used on it. I see the little birds there, but it honestly seems like you put them into the design because you had to. Also like many designs in this derby, besides the distressing, and the use of a font that looks like it's from 1950, I don't see how this fits the vintage theme.

Not that I'm sure you'll miss my measly one vote, but I'm sorry that i can't give you one for this. Not one so many other artists went above and beyond this round with original artwork, ideas, and a genuine execution of the "vintage" aesthetic.

Best of luck regardless!

Re: ZOMBIE DOOM SQUAD

This has got to be one of, if not the most awesome and kick ass tee designs this site has ever seen. The artwork is simply phenomenal, and the concept is through the roof. Let's get this sucker printed.

ressamac wrote:So glad you came around to liking pop culture references! Nicely done.

Actually, I'm still not huge on pop culture references. Lumy came to me with the idea. I actually had something far less of a pop culture reference that I wanted to work on with her or Robbie Lee. I had contacted him first, and put the idea on hold with her, pending his response. So we went with the ponies... It wasn't until later into the weekend that I found that the other project would be unavailable because he was busy.

I've still got the idea tucked away. I really thought it would be fun to attempt, but perhaps for another day.

As for pop culture, itself, it's never been that I hate all pop culture designs. I purely want to go with something that shows detail, concept and definite thought process. If these were just gangster ponies or something as simplistic, I wouldn't want to be a part of the project, most likely. It has to be more than a *coughs* one trick pony. *coughs*

No,, the rejection reason was nudity, but the real problem is context. There isn't any. Maybe if it looked like it was an album cover or something...?

Re: Tweets are for Birds

@Horseypants
I can totally understand some of your points, especially about the design being mostly text... if you look at my signature, I have 3 other designs that have little to none. This one just happens to be the one that wooters seem to be voting for the most.

On the other hand, I'm not sure about your birds point...if you look at my past designs, I love creating designs based around birds, and I rarely use much text or large text even when text is permitted. I myself usually prefer less text-based designs - I went a different route here with the big text/little birds because I was thinking of old posters/record albums I've seen. Also, I drew the letters myself thinking of the way the old lettering looked back then.

To further my thought process... I chose the olive color because it has a vintage feel to me - probably because when I was a kid, the appliances in my house (fridge/oven/stove) were a strange dated olive green color that apparently was a popular color for a while back in the day.

Anyway, no problem about not giving a vote this time if you prefer other designs, (though I hope you can see more that there was a thought process behind the design). Maybe another time!

Perhaps you should actually purchase a Woot shirt before you step in.

Re: My Evil Pony 2.o

There needs to be a "Girly for Men" derby where shirts with My Little Pony, Barbie, Carebears, etc. are made both cute and badass so that guys are expected to wear them (and women too, of course). They had the "Naughty and Nice" derby a while back, but I still think the theme would be fun. I voted for you.
