i LOVE the wording - didn't really see it offensive as much as a bit non sequitur, which is right up my alley! hopefully this gets to me in time of my service project too, yay!

Re: Women At War

i have to agree with chicken. the notion that women are only good for cooking and cleaning and raising children was exactly what rosie the riveter was created to oppose. i make as many "get back in the kitchen and make me some pie/a sandwich, woman!" jokes as the next person, but this is not the image to make those jokes with.

Yeah, let's get a cure for children. I vote for baby killing. But cure for Africa? That isn't pc.

If only there was a shirt promoting a race to cure the uptight.

At first when I read this, I thought of a super-race of big blond muscular men with German accents who have been bred for the sole purpose of exterminating the uptight. ...is that offensive?

Nah, it's alright. I'll most likely be doing a lot of running in this shirt if it wins, so people shouldn't have enough time to read through it as I blur past them; however, in the unlikely event that someone becomes racially insulted and decides to chase me down, I'll already have a head start on them.

If I'd bought a shirt here before, I'd vote for it. But I haven't, and that makes me a bit sad. :[

Perhaps in the next 72 hours you will be able to change that whole "haven't bought a shirt before" part, and will have no future voting issues.

Overall, great design. Hope to see it in the winner's spot.

The guy on the left is actually similar to a Schoolhouse Rock character. I was going for a Rocky type look with him though. Probably rework and submit elsewhere when able to.

Re: Curling Adventure! New from Smacktivision!

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments and votes! This was an exciting week -- my first long fog in years!

I hope Smacktivision's vision of retro Olympic gaming inspired enough people to get it to print but I realize I'm going up against some of the most talented and prolific artists here at Woot. Either way, thanks to everyone and congrats to all the artists!

Re: Women At War

I am betting those that are referring to Rosie as a "sacred icon" to women: do not know the difference between a TIG and MIG welder, have never used a punch, break or shear...and probably do not know the proper tool to remove a cherry rivet.

Reality check 1) Cooking is not a "sentence to the kitchen".. it is a creative activity that many people enjoy.

Reality check 2) A tee shirt with Rosie in a oven mit is not going to make men decide that they need to stay out of the kitchen and make women do that job.

Most of the men I know enjoy cooking and baking, and many world class chefs are men too.

Perhaps you are the ones clinging to a stereo type.

Man who loves cooking checking in!

Honestly, though, I must comment that I just plain think this shirt is funny. (not to you, eye4spot, this is for the rest of the class)

People seem to not understand the simple fact that if a person is offended by something, it is their own problem. Period. This whiney, PC version of society where everybody is a victim just plain ticks me off. It is not Person A's duty to avoid hurting Person B's feelings.

But I digress... Bottom line: A lot of humor is in sarcasm, ridicule, and absurdity. I am going to hazard a guess that the person who designed this shirt doesn't have a pejorative view of women in the least. Surprise! It's a joke. Earth humor: learn it, live it, love it.

It's sad to see it get rejected. I really liked the illustration and thought it was more of a mash-up between Kim Possible, Totally Spies and Charlie's Angels. (I guess I'm not old enough to distinguish "vintage" from not)
