Nice job. A good friend is also working on something with Maneki and a black cat. I guess we're gonna see a couple of those.
I even thought about it. Too good to not try it i guess.

Re: Down on Luck

I had the idea to take normally lucky things and turn them on their heads- four leaf clover becomes 3, shooting star falls out of the sky, ladybug that lost a wing and can only fly in circles, an empty pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, and of course a bunny who lost his lucky foot Hope you enjoy

jabberjaws13 wrote:hi luna. please don't take offense, just here to help. you may want to change some things around in here. the thumbnail does not match the comp which is a big woot no-no so they'll reject the submission. i would resub where the thumbnail doesn't have the light brown being half of it, since the shirt doesn't look that way. also, you comp design is completely different colors than your final tee. you may not want to do that either. kinda depends on the rejectionator's mood if that will slide. but the thumbnail will kill it first.

Thank you very much Jabber. I am a new designer to woot and can use all the help I can get to find the line. Positive criticsm is always appreciated. I will resub immediately.

good luck though with a resub!

you could have done better. Nice concept. Pretty bad artwork. Maybe an extra night would have been better

Funny! I would like it better a bit smaller on the shirt, though.

Cute idea! It's hard to see on the black shirt though, so I think I would like this better on a lighter color. It would make it more cheerful too

Just don't tell her about the time your cousin Oliver came to move in.

Thank you for the feedback, Jabber. I really appreciate the positive crticism whenever and however it comes. Being a new designer to woot, I am still trying to find the line. I will definitly change and resubmit. Do you know how I could keep my votes, if possible?

Can't keep the votes from your first design, but a quick resubmission will help you avoid losing any more.

Re: The Good the Bad and the Lucky

If we HAS to "haz kitteh", as seems pretty much inevitable this week, this is probably the best illustration out of what's currently in the fog.

Personally, looks like I'll be saving my money again. Not seeing the appeal of a wardrobe full cats and bunnies, personally.

Wow! Thanks!

The funny part is that "B-13" is usually seen on Bingo cards and not on slot machines!

I am happily surprised at this initial reception, and wish all of you fine people a great weekend!

Yeah no prob, just forgive all the spelling/grammer errors, I'm in a rush to finish some Harley-Davidson art this morning and I'm poking my head in here.

On the line technique, Sokowa used a similar line thing on her Raptor shirt and it worked great.... but she used thicker lines

BTW Boots, grats on your sellout today

This is funny They may ding you on not being clear enough to theme (like if your walking down the street someone's not going to look at it and say man that sporks got LUCKY DNA) but it's a great concept nontheless.

Even the background is horrible on this. The godzilla-like creature is turned to the side yet has his left arm coming out of where his chest should be. Perspective, ramy. You just don't get it.

Re: Identity Confusion

Black cats seem to have different reputations of good and bad luck.

Here's the tidbits that this design is based on:

A strange black cat on your porch brings prosperity. - Scottish superstition

It is believed that a lady who owns a black cat will have many suitors.

The black cat in folklore has been thought to change into human shape to act as a spy or courier for witches or demons. During the Middle Ages, these superstitions led people to kill black cats.

If you saw a black cat go across your path you would think, if you were superstitious, you are going to have a little bad luck.

----

I was thinking about including some of the info as text in some way, but decided against it. I'm open to changing it though. Constructive feedback welcome! Thanks.

Come on this is probably one of the best Ramy pieces I've seen and is far better the the likes of Procrastinate. I don't have a perspective problem with this one since it's clearly in a cartoon style (and I'm good at perspective so I know what I'm talking about) I think he executed the idea well. I understand bashing him on cop outs (see his unlucky charms entry this derby) and certain techniques but this unadulterated hate for anything he does is ridiculous (and no I don't agree with the things he's done at cons and such, I've read it ALL). If your gonna bash him I want you to go to every sub and REALLY critique them if there anatomy/perspective is off, and don't say your doing it only to him because his stuff has a chance to print. There are pieces in this derby by printed artists who are commiting grevious sins according to you and others in this very derby (Boots, sorry but I'm looking at you with your no armed leprechan and two legged unicorn pig). Bash him when warrented but don't just do it because.

I think you're right. Right now they'd be bigger than lifesize on an adult shirt. I'll mail a smaller version to Woot if it looks like there's a chance I'll print. Thanks!

Hmm. I never even considered it might not be on theme -- the description mentions "lucky people" and I thought this would fit in that. Hopefully, Woot agrees!

This is un-freakin'-believably awesome!!!

Only one suggestion: Placement change.

How friggin' cool would this left-heavy design look placed in the lower-left corner of the shirt?!?!? I'll tell you how awesome: REALLY awesome. I'd buy one...maybe more.

I just can't get past the left-heavy visual balance being that high up on the shirt as it stands right now.
